Has anyone tried the lockpick Ipod adapter in an 04?

I installed it in an 08 and works fine. I have to warn you that it is basic functionality. No steering wheel controls except for volume. Seek-up and down (P1 & P2) and you have the ability to select a playlist. That's it.

I believe that it will work just fine in an 04 since the car electronics has not been upgraded much since 04.

If I can just play the Ipod through the stereo I will be thrilled. I was disappointed to find out the 6 disk will not play a cdr so this will be great. Dave

I play my iPod almost everyday. I have an old iPod that found a permanent home in the XLR. I leave the iPod in the center upper compartment. It is still reachable if I need to. The lockpick keeps it charged too. :o)

On a budget? For $50 you can get an FM radio modulator that you tune to an unused FM frequency and receive on any FM radio.
But now I know of the lockpick adapter ......

I have an 04 and a few years back I purchased a device made by Neucleus.

You pull the wire out of the XM radio and plug the wire into the Neucleus then plug it into the XM box. (note you must have the XM tuner which was the only option in 04 besides color)

I routed the apple connector down behind the drivers seat into into the glove box and it works perfecly.

Steering wheel controls work as does selecting playlists on the NAV. Preset 1 on the XM will toggle between XM\IPOD\AUX - Yes the Neucleus has an AUX in which I have connected to my phones headset jack so I can use the stereo as a speakerphone since the 04 lacks bluetooth.

Also - I recently got an iphone 3g - It wont charge it, but it will play the music.

Might be hard to find, but it's an easy install. - keep in mind the 04 is the older GM-BUS not the newer GM-LAN

I had the lockpick for a while, but it pretty quickly gave up the ghost. They were pretty nice about sending a replacement unit, but I just got a Kenwood stereo installed and it does a better job anyway. Not to mention better (Garmin) nav. It wasn't *really* cheap, but it wasn't terrible either. Installers did a great job too.
