I need to buy the extended warranty (GMPP) for my 05 before April 2009, But I'm worried that if GM goes broke the warranty will be worthless.

Well wait unitl the end of today and maybe your worries wil be abated...for at least awhile.

I've seen posts elsewhere from people with the same question that claimed GM personnel had told them the warranty section was one of the few functions actually making money.

No idea whether that's true, or whether it would be a moot point.

Either way, if you haven't, make sure you know the actual drop dead date for warranty extensions. Sometimes, it's three months or 3000 miles before the current one expires instead of the actual end.
