I am going to Chicago to buy an 04 tomorrow. The dealer tells me it is showroom new. 81000 miles. I am a firm believer that these cars are much more reliable if you use them so I would rather have a high mileage one than low. I currently have an Allante with 310000 and it is still flawless So I know about maintance. It has had its issues but it has been a great car, and still is. I think I know all I need to check out but any suggestions would be appreciated. I still love the Allante but I have been lusting for an XLR for years so I think it's time.

I know which one you're talking about- From the Chicago Toy Store, I think they want $22k for it. I was going to get it but was a bit weary with that high mileage. I look at it this way- if you plan to keep the car then its probably fine, but if you plan on selling it within the next few years its more than likely going to have over 100k miles on it, meaning it will be worth next to nothing. For the price they're asking the car is waaaay over priced. The condition looks good, but for the mileage that car should be selling for $18-19k. For that same money you could go to an auction and pick up the same one with half the mileage on it. Being a one owner does help, but I'd be a bit weary of it. Just my $.02

I ended up getting it for 19800. It really is flawless. Someone really took care of it. I checked past repairs and It was under warrantee untill last month. All work done at the dealer. Top motor, sensers, brakes, window regulators, and alot ot little things. I think it was a good deal and plan on keeping it.

Congratulations on your purchase!!!

I think it will prove to be a very reliable car based on my personal experience with my 2004.

Good luck my friend. I hope you enjoy rinding this great car.

If you end up needing something, you can always make friends at the Bowling Green Plant located near where you are from. If you have not seen the plant, I recommend you go for an XLR ride and take the public tour.

Congrats on the acquisition. Do you think that $25k for a 2004 with 30,000 miles is reasonable?

Monepit,

Congratulations! You will love the car, they are incredible to drive! Enjoy your new baby! When you get a chance, maybe post some pictures with the Allante and the XLR together! :cheers

I think 25000 for one with 30000 miles is very reasonable. In fact I would have bought it if I hadn't bought this one. I am sure I will be very happy with this one. It's kind of like the lexas commencial, I find myself going out to the garage for no reason just to look at it. Today was a good day. I found a heated garage to store the allante in. 18 years and 310000 and it never spent the night outside. It broke my heart to go outside this morning and see frost on it. If the xlr is half the car it has been i will love it. One thing is for sure, It will be driven and enjoyed. I believe in taking great care of them and using the heck out of them. The Allante went to Florida 5 0r 6 times a year and to the lake every weekend so this one will not sit much. Xlrat, the camera's at the boat so next time I run down to check on it I will post pictures. Dave
