I was wondering how many of you use your XLR as a daily driver vs a weekend toy? I personally intend to use the car in the evenings and on weekends - casual fun driving as opposed to taking it to work. Just curious to see what others might be doing?

Sorry to say but mine is just a weekend toy and then only every other weekend. I have got to do something about that. Like fire myself from my own company.

If you could cut yourself a good deal on the exit interview might be worth it then you could cruise the XLR more :D !! I think boating is a great hobby however having a near death experience on a Four Winns 3 weekends ago until further notice its dry-land for me!

Mine is my daily driver, but I only live 4 miles from work, and its a drive on a stop-light infested 4 lane.

Does get me lots of looks at the lights though.

Weekends and nights, it the MDX (soon to be SRX) when the weather is bad.

but going to work every day seems to make much more sense!! ;)

The toll is just to high to put "Precious" on Houston's freeways everyday. Like EYEDOC, the Bride's commute is short - only 3 miles one way. Call her KIDDOC.

But the toll at her office is a different sort: Blazing sun, tree sap, bird poop, kids on bicycles, big-ass pickups, swinging car doors, and the inevitable attention the XLR attracts when parked. And the parking lot at her clinic provides NO protection at all.

Her daily driver is a bullet proof Jeep Wrangler. :cool

At work (after my short commute), I park in an underground garage. I have a special parking place (next to a large brick storage room -- door on the other side, and a concrete pillar). The XLR fits nicely into the space and is protected on all sides. This area is even a good 75-90 foot walk from the elevator acces, so people have to go out of their way even to look.

Cool and out of the sun in the summer, warm and dry in the winter.

Understand all those comments about p[arking at public locations. For years with my Vette, I parked at the far reaches of the parking lots and walked, just to be out by myself.

Mine is daily driver for touring the USA. left WV july 4th and drove south to San Antonio tx via Tulsa OK. then to Red River NM, Colorado Springs, Aspin CO, thru UT, NV. ID, and back along the canadian border to the great lakes and finally home. guess what? never saw another XLR in 12k miles. did get great service at a cadillac dealer on my first oil change, cost to GM $85.00. gas mileage was max 31.7 out west to min. of 25.6 here in the east. No troubles in the whole trip. top down most of the way. small suit case on front seat. Now have 14568 miles on this car. I think it may be a great vehicle.

I am constantly on the prowl for just those kinds of parking spots.

motorboat - I hear you, and feel your pain. We've had our XLR since May and this weekend (mid Aug) was the first road trip. Being out of the corporate womb and on one's own can certainly eat up a guy's calendar. And isn't the boating business mostly a weekend thing anyway?

The drive is always the fun part but I agree about the parking.... unless you are parking the car in the outfield (which creates other risks) the threat of door dings, bumps, and related environmental challanges keeps my XLR in the garage during working hours and open for the drive to the beach or to the gym. I take my Escalade EXT to work where it fits nicely into a parking spot and nudges others way from my quarter pannels. By the by, open-air night driving is the best - moonlight cabin, navigation system pointing the way, stereo playing some great tunes.....man, what the heck am I doing in work today! :cry :cry :cry

You forgot the all important clause, "main squeeze by your side". I had an almost identical post in an earlier thread. After a great weekend road trip in the XLR, and reading about BUDSVET's trip, I'm having some serious XLR weekend withdrawl today.

Yes I love SA. I couldn't belive it either, but I kept the 31.7more or less for about 125 miles going from west texas to NM on I10 , that is where I kicked it up to 152mph. no cars, no cops, no aircraft. just me and my XLR with the SAT radio playing rock and roll with top down. great for old guy like me to spend my last days. only have 20 years left. I hope......

I drive my XLR for about a week, then switch off with my Navigator for about a week. My work space is well protected, so it's not an issue. In public lots, well I walk alot...

You got it right Aviator!! Sept 3rd is the wedding anniversary and the XLR plays a role in the evening festivities!! Whether a flick or the tunes the car has its enchanting qualities! I have to take some pics and upload them this weekend. The platinum exterior all shined up is incredible in the daylight or night time!! :cool
