Like many of you, I also really enjoyed RIII in Bowling Green. The best part was meeting other XLR owners, sharing ideas, and seeing other innovative modifications to the cars.
I enjoyed the event being held in KY; if it were held there for RIV, I will not hesitate to go again. It's close to us who live in the south, so no problem getting there in a relatively short time. But I probably would not go on the factory tour or to the Corvette Museum (been there, done that). But, no big deal, I would still be able to meet with you folks, which is the main purpose of the event anyway.
But, I can definitely sympathize with people that live out west. It is a long drive. And now expensive with gas prices. I know that everyone will not be repeaters from RII or RIII, and may not previously been to Bowling Green, but it may make some sense to have RIV in the midwest. Aside from the plant and museum, Bowling Green KY (although probably a nice place to live) would not be on my priority as a vacation spot to visit. Would it be possible to have RIV in a nice vacation type area that would be more centrally located in the US? ALLEN1869 mentioned that he had attended a motorcycle rally at Lake of the Ozarks in central Missouri. Some place like that might make a good alternative location. Kind of in the middle of the US (not as middlin' as Kansas), but it is a beautiful place, and probably many activity alternatives because it is a vacation spot.
Like I said, Bowling Green is fine as far as I am concerned; just nothing new to see, which is not a big deal. As some of you mentioned, the sponsership of Cadillac will be gone any other place; maybe that is not a necessary factor for everyone to have a good time. But, maybe Cadillac may send some reps to other locations for PR reasons. The point is, it may be favorable for some folks to be in a real nice scenic/water/beach atmosphere in the middle of the country.
Maybe this message is a bit premature for an event occurring next summer. But time has a habit of going by in a hurry.
