My '06 XLR is in for service at the Dealer today for a leak in the Timing Chain Cover. Was told that this is becoming a problem as they have had others in for the same thing. Seems they are haveing a warping problem in the housing. Mine was a very small drip about the size of a BB on my garage floor, I noticed about three or four as I don't always get it backed into the garage in the same position everytime. Hope to get it back tomorrow, they will also be changing the oil for the first time, have 11,353 miles on it now. First Robin:(

If there is an oil leak from the front cover area it would be from the cover gasket, cam phasers, cam covers or the oil manifold. Only '04 and '05 XLRs get updated front covers and gaskets.

Thanks Bruce, The service manager is the one that told me about the warping and he did say it was an '05 and it is now having a valve replaced, it has 35,000 miles on it. I don't know about the other ones that have had trouble here. Just hope it will be totally fixed and no other problems, am leaving the 29th heading to Illinois. First Robin

Just came home from the Dealer and went for both test drives. They did replace the cover as it was warped and they also replaced the valve. While it was up in the air I looked underneath and discovered at sometime it was lifted and the lift was put up without the two X four blocks of wood and they damaged the under carriage. Punched a hole clear through on the passenger side and almost through on the drivers side under the floor boards. Also damaged the outer edges under both doors. Talked to the service manager about it. Will find out what they are going to do about it when I pick it up later this afternoon. Not very happy at this point. They should realize it is made of a composite, not steel or sheet metal. First Robin

The Service Manager didn't have time yesterday to take my machine to the collision center manager to find out what it will take to fix the damage caused by the lift. I understand they have special attachments for the lifts so as not to cause what happend to mine or they can just use blocks of wood. When I return from my trip I will take it back and find out what they are going to do about it. Still not happy and won't be until it is back in good condition. First Robin:(

I was told by my dealer that it takes a special lift for XLRs, same for Corvettes.

You don't have to use a special lift, but you do have to be very careful where you put the lift feet.

My 06 XLR was in for service last week because my top wouldn't operate properly. They told me it was just a soft ware update and it was fixed. When I picked up the car, the service manager informed me that I had a Timing Chain Leak. I would need to bring it back to have it fixed. I did notice a small spot on my garage floor. Is this common ? He also told me that I might have a problem with the water pump. He said that he had seen a few with this problem.
