: XLR-V Rear Wheel HP
STARBLACK225 07-29-2008, 01:53 PM Hello All,
Maybe I'm one of the few lunatics that would put his baby through this, but I had my car on a dyno today. I was relatively convinced I was going to watch the resulting carnage of my Alpine White V going through the wall! The car has the D3 stage 1 and 2 intakes and ECU box, along with a Corsa exhaust. 3 Passes. Uncorrected. Max MPH 160.
Pass 1 360.76 RWHP/412.79 TQ
Pass 2 362.36 RWHP/390.48 TQ
Pass 3 341.02 RWHP/392.76 TQ

I wonder if your shop flipped the numbers on you. I would guess you have 412RWHP and 360 TQ that would be consistant with your current D3 level. The way you dropped off on run 2 and 3 might be heat sinc, did the shop have cooling (a fan) on the front of your car?
Pretty scary when it hits those top revs!!!!!
STARBLACK225 07-31-2008, 07:44 AM Hi,
Yes they used a fan. Not sure about flipping the numbers, the reports are pretty clear. I spoke to the guys at D3 and they suggested I dyno again with the rear wheel speed sensors disconnected. Apparently, if the front wheels don't move the car goes into fail safe and bypasses the boost. If I get up the nerve, I'll try it again this weekend. Have you had yours dyno'd? Results?

I have the same aftermarket updates as you, less the corsa exhaust, mine is stock. I do not recall the torque number but I got a consistent 406-409 RWHP (air temp in the 70 to 80 range). This was from two different shops. I wanted to verify the fuel air mixture (first shop did not report F/I). I was also curious about your speed. My dyno only got 148MPH dbefore shut down, I thought these cars were limited to 145MPH) Your car is a beauty!
XLR_Lover 08-01-2008, 08:22 AM I was under the impression 155MPH was the cut-off, no?

STARBLACK225 08-01-2008, 10:25 AM Thank you! Air/Fuel was 12:1. I'm not sure where the factory sets max mph, but saw/ heard the car "back down" at 160. Maybe it actually quit sooner and the momentum brought the car to 160. I might go back this weekend to recheck. Did you disconnect the rear wheel speed sensors on your test?? You NEED the Corsa exhaust. It is the most awe inspiring sound ever!
standby 08-02-2008, 12:04 PM That's right Floyd..............NO. Remember Hans and I both took my V up to 158 on I-40. I bet every car is off by 1 to 5 miles on the limiter.

Here are links to two dyno runs from different dynos
One is the dyno dynamics and other is dynojet. Dynojet is before and after and after dyno tune.
You will note that the dyno dynamics reports (calculates) torque differently than dynojet.

I would think you would have 5-6 more RWHP than me cause of your exhaust.
I believe your car should hit rev limit prior to speed limit. If you hit speed limit I would think you were in wrong gear. Neither shop disconnected wheel speed sensor. I don't know if makes difference but did you have in performance mode and traction control disabled? Mine was during runs.
STARBLACK225 08-04-2008, 07:03 AM Hi Red,
Do you know if they shifted, or just left it in drive?? Traction/Stability was OFF.

I think it was run up in third gear.

On vehicles we don't remove or alter the speed limiter, we typically dyno our XLR-V's in 3rd gear. 4th gear doesn't wind all the way out due to the speed limiter. It really makes me wonder what GM was thinking setting the speed limiter to cut off in 4th gear. You spend 100k on a beautiful car and you can only wind out half the gears before the 'limit your fun' kicks in. I'm not saying we should be driving in speeds excess of 150+mph, but having 2 'untouched' gears, I personally would consider swapping out my rear end gears to something a little higher to make use of 4th and part of 5th gear. 6th gear should still be a decent highway gear. Just my two cents...
