It seems as thou when the trunk opens and I press the trunk close button it won't close and then sometimes it will not even open and it's doing it on a consistent basis now.

Anything happen to anyone like this before?

Does it fail when pressing the button above the license plate, from the dash, or fob? One or all three? This is the first step to troubleshooting.

If the other two switches operate the trunk consistently, your problem is most likely the trunk-mounted switch, connector to the switch, or wire in the circuit to the control module. I'd bet on the trunk-mounted switch as the most likely cause of the fault. It can be tested from it's connector.
