The other day I turned my traction control off, and for the first time I punched my car to the floor expecting to lay down about 30 ft of rubber, instead I got 2 small chirps about 10 ft into the acceleration.
The car did seem to accelerate very rapidly, but I thought I should have been able to really smoke my tires.
I tried it asecond time with T/C on and this time I got a little squeal immediatly on the punch and then another small chirp again about 10-15 ft further.
I did not continue accelerating beyond 50 mph.
I just thought this car should have really laid down some rubber.

You didn't mention whether or not you had the standard XLR or The "V".

As I recall, standby experimented with the Traction Control on both the XLR and the XLR-V and mentioned some positive results with it off.

As you may know the car "learns" your driving habits so you may want to give it a try again in a safe place.

I do know some "V" owners who have turned the car sideways with it off. So the torque is there in the "V" at least.

I am sure standby and some of the others who have first hand experiece will respond shortly.

CARS, although it hooks up pretty good in a straight line, pulling out of the grocery store or corner drug store can be an amazing ride. Pull out on to a wide road (with no one around preferably)...punch it hard and the wheels will spin with very little resistance at all. The car will go into a very easy to control slide or drift. Great stuff!

CARS has a base model, although when I had mine it had no problem leaving rubber. Actually, it spun more than I was hoping for--can't get someone off the line if she's gonna waste all that energy just spinning wheels!

I suppose you could always dyno her and see what's going on.

When I`m first car on a red stoplight I just turn off my TC when light turns green I just smash the pedal to the floor and I`ll allways get wheelspin of about a car lenght and see 100 kph in about 5.5 seconds:lol :thumbs

:iagree Yep, Floyd has it right. I suggest CARS watches some NHRA drags on next Sunday in Denver and watch how fast the Funny cars, hook up WITHOUT laying down rubber. If you've seen the drags before, you know that if the wheels break loose you're in for a peddle fest to the 1/4 mile. (Now shortened to 1,000 ft instead of the 1,320 ft)
I have the V and we all can hit the console button 3 times to get it in the Performance mode which CARS doesn't have and lay a pretty good strip. Instead I take off in second and the minute I feel hooked up to the ground, I kick it over to the automatic slot and let it do it's thing................Not bragging here, but mine has never been beat off the line and that includes motorcycles. after I hit about 70 and slow down, I get a thumbs up from the bikers as they go by and a finger from the the drivers of the BMW, Porshes and Benzes.

God Bless Scott Kalitta, a fine racer and always a gentleman on or off the track. We will miss him.

Thanks guys.
I am an auto mechanic, as a matter of fact, I own a repair shop.
In the past, I've built my share of fast cars, form blown out vettes to street sleepers, and I know that once we lose friction, we probably lost the race. I am making my statement because my 76 injected Eldo convertible could lay down tons of rubber, my 93 Eldo S/C (which you can't turn off the T/C(active suspension)) would also catch more hat than the XLR, my wifes 97 eldo could blow smoke out of the front wheel wells.

I guess I was just asking, is this car so perfectly set up, that even with T/C off, it grabs the road better at take off than anything I've ever driven?
Or is my engine bogging down and I don't realize it.
( I do have 8,000 miles on the car!)

Is this typical behavior, or I do I have something that needs to be looked into?

Get a stopwatch and if you can do 0-60 5 sec. or so I wouldn't worry.

Hey Floyd, you have to stop reading my mind.
But I would suggest 0-60 in about 6 seconds or pull up to something at a light that you know if fast and see how you make out for the first 1,000 ft or to 60 mph.
Our 04's didn't seem to be fast but when matched up, they did pretty good. Another trick would be to put some worn tires on the rear. You will light up the street, but keep that T/C on, your going to need it.
I didn't mean to be so condescending with my input, so please excuse my soap box demonstration.
