Can you better describe where the noise is coming from??? i/e does it seem to be in the front of the top assembly where it attaches to the windshield or the rear below the back window where the assembly sits on the deck lid??

I am curious whether or not it is a rubber weather strip squeek or a plastic or metal one.

I usually clean and lubricate all of the top seals with silicone lubricant. It's what GM recommends and always keeps everything quiet.

I spray some on a paper towel and rub it on every surface of every seal.

Did you clean the weather seals, did you lubricate them? Did you do anything to the seals?

Changing the characteristics of the seal surface will sometimes cause squeaking.

Its coming from the back I guess but I have not used any lubricants on the weather strips, do you think that might be the cause?

What kind of lube do you recommend?

Thanx

As a staring point I would use a small bit of WD-40 because it won't hurt any thing--paint or rubber. If the noise goes away then we'll move to the GM preferred lube for wherever it is.

Try to get a accurate fix on exactly where the noise is coming from and then do the lube thing.

If the car isn't under a factory warranty they will charge you mechanic rates to do essentially the same thing.

I am assuming you have checked to see that each of the various sections of the top are bolted down and nothing is loose right??

Your user's manual recommends the type of lubricant for your weather seals. I believe it's a dielectric silicon based lubricant. It's easy to find in most Auto Parts store. Check it out.

Geez, Cubby .... We talked about this in BG .... I am happy to hear that you are there in AZ and we hope the good docs can work their magic with your dad.

You are definetly in the "hot spot" of the nation .... it's funny, in the winter, people from all over the country flock to Phx ...... in the summer, everyone tries to get out!

Hugs to you and your dad. :grouphug
