The rear tires on the xlr v were showing cord in the center. I did not notice beause the edges of the tire were still good. I have been careful about inflation. I was told that the run flat tires wear in the center first due to stiff sidewalls. The car has 15,800 miles. What has been others experience?
Thanks

I had the same problem with my first set. It absolutely shocked me since the mileage was so low.
I started messing with the tire pressure to see what worked best based on near normal driving habits and have gotten almost 20k on the current set.
I am about ready for a new set too and am "on the fence" about replacing the Pirelli's with the new Goodyear run flats that are now standard on the XLR.
I was holding off to see if it was worth it to get a new XLR but I don't see the changes as being worth the financial hit. Maybe in 2010.
It would be interesting to see what Cadillac recommends but then they already have by making the change to Goodyear.
Let's ask our new Supporting Vender--Discount Tire if they can shed any light on the issue.

Now after 20,000 miles does the wear seem to be even. What mileage did you get out of front?
Thanks for info.

Yea its even but the tread wear indicators are nearly showing so it's the tire compound that is softer than we all expect.
the Goodyears may be better overall.

Just put Goodyear Eagle RS/A (all season) run flats on the 05. Had problems with the "road force test" on 2 out of 4. Sent a couple back....think their going to be ok now. Was told an acceptable reading was 25 or less....(you will feel it). My numbers are between 7 to 14 now. A couple came down through "tire averaging or rim averaging" (they rotate the tire to a different location on the rim). Purchased mine through Tire Rack....they were good to work with. Also purchased a spare to have on hand "if" a tire goes beyond repair (because) I think it would be a order item even at a Goodyear outlet. Hope this helps.

Boy am I sorry I got into this issue with you. I just noticed that my right rear lost air (to 26 lbs) and the tread is down to the wear indicators.
I have been running 35 cold and the rear looks essentially smooth across the whole tire. (My experience).
I am still interested in the exact ires that are on the new 2009's from Goodyear. It might be a good exchange.
