Hello all, quick question I just ordered 4 new tires from tirerack.com do I have to take my XLR to a Cadillac dealership to get the new tires put on or can I go to Mavis or other shop that sells tires. The reason I am asking is because there is a tire pressure display on my dashboard which must mean there are some sensors on the rim/wheel which check pressure, i just dont want to take the car to a Mavis and them not know what to do and screw up the electronics.

The pressure sensors are mounted to the rim. As long as the wheels stay in the same position, there is nothing else (no reprogramming) to do..! :)

Doesn't Tire Rack.com have a place on their website that you enter a Zip code, and it gives you dealers that will install the tires that you buy from them?

All you have to do it arrange with any reputable tire installer to do it. I had four tires from tirerack.com drop-shipped to my Cadillac dealership for installation.

As to the sensors, almost any good tire installer knows how to reset the sensor locations. In fact, my Cadillac forgot to do it one time and I had a Firestone store correct it. The have the know-how.

Tirerack.com seems to be the place to buy when new rubber is needed. Anyone have other places to buy?

Yes, I believe the sensors will continue to work--but you may want to check to be sure.

The TPM's will work with any tire, just don't mix them up. Make sure each one goes back on the same rim in the same locatiion it came off. Sometimes it takes about 15 minutes of driving to have them reset.

Just don't do what I did. I had my tires rotated and when the pressure seemed to be off on the left front I put some air in it. Then I noticed the tire was still low so --more air right. Well in diriving around I noticed that the right rear tire pressure was too high.

I'm not a rocket scientist but after careful deduction it occured tome that they forgot to reset the TPMS to the location of the car---a 10 minute job.

All is well now.

I bought my own tire pressure resetting tool and reset them myself when rotating the tires (did I tell you I have trust issues?). It's simply a magnet.
