Q8KNIGHT 04-12-2008, 03:13 AM does that mean the headlights will be redesighned too? Or just the foglamps?
Looks like minor interior changes.
The name XLR Platinum is just cheesy
removing Supercharged from the V Doors is wrong (thats what made it cool)
base car gets V hood is smart
and new 2 tone interiors hopefully will make the car more sporty
now we just need to see the wheels
standby 04-12-2008, 11:09 AM I don't remember if you saw some old posts of mine where I took the supercharged off the doors and put new ones on the cowling. Everyone can always buy the supercharged badges and put them wherever they want. I didn't like them on the doors because they where hard to see. About the best news from your post was the two tone interiors. That will really do the interior some justice and give it a sporty feel, but no more pony's? boo on that.

XLRcited 04-12-2008, 04:18 PM I thought 2009, according to Allen, was supposed to be the 'model refresh' year. Gimme a break, new power window control switches! New colors (and discontinued old ones)! The only partially significant addition to this model is the addition of BT capability to the onstar phone system. I guess Cadillac never really listened to the many suggestions made on this site.
standby 04-12-2008, 07:48 PM Yea! where is the back up camera that we need desperately and some more ponies. Maybe there just working on getting all these things right on this car which would help.

standby 04-12-2008, 08:46 PM How about removing that stupid GM badge, so we don't have to scratch our paint taking it off.
I would like to know why GM calls us, monitors this site and they do just what they want to do and could care less what we think

tonypro99 04-12-2008, 11:59 PM DAMN!!! I was really hoping for the LS7 to be used in this puppy i mean the CTS-V 09 gots it COME ON CADDY!!!
ebferro 04-13-2008, 06:02 AM Perhaps the reason that there are no major updates is because they're going to kill the vehicle and it just doesn't make sense to spend money on it when ultimately it will be no more. Just my two cents.
standby 04-13-2008, 11:23 AM You might be right on the money with that one.Perhaps the reason that there are no major updates is because they're going to kill the vehicle and it just doesn't make sense to spend money on it when ultimately it will be no more. Just my two cents.
tonypro99 04-13-2008, 01:59 PM that sucks I mean what are they going to use for their flag ship?
XLR28 04-13-2008, 07:38 PM It seems to me that the auto industry is still at a slower pace than society is becoming use to.
With the advancing features available in things like cell phones and TV's and seeing how quickly new technologies are applied, society is used to that rapid pace.
With a car, it is a bit more than just a cell phone or a TV or a computer. Much more complex; but I think that the ability to quickly come onboard with new ideas is doable - with the proper forethought and planning. (similar to component parts for rifles way back when)
As far as what I see the pace being, every 8 years a car will get a major overhaul (redesign/"all new"/etc.), with the 'refresher' coming along at the half way point (4 years). Submarines are similar but on an even slower timeline/pace.
The unfortunate side effect is that with all the attention on the new CTS, we feel a little neglected. It is all in the timing and we should try to appreciate Cadillac's 'big picture'.
RickH 04-13-2008, 08:09 PM The XLR is the flagship, but sells less than 5,000 units per year. It's my guess that Caddy will end the XLR in a couple of years due to low production numbers.
Maybe that's a question to ask at RIII. it would be interesting to hear the Caddy boys answer.

That question has been danced around plenty.
I don't think that GM cares if they sell more of them. There is already a production line setup in BG to handle the amount they sell now .... if they were to sell more a new line would have to be built to handle the volume. IMHO, I think Cadillac is happy with the XLR the way it is and they won't have to spend a fortune for new tool and die ..... a few upgrades each year just makes a great car better ...

standby 04-13-2008, 11:42 PM We asked at RII and was told they are committed, but it's not in stone.

ebferro 04-15-2008, 06:04 PM Rumor has it that BG is going to start building the Solstice and the Saturn equivalent. If those two vehicles use up the remaining available capacity at the plant, I don't imagine the XLR will be too long lived.
Any car that isn't updated properly because it might be discontinued is effectively doomed to failure. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Galen 04-19-2008, 01:29 PM I would be surprised if the X lasted past 2010-11. After 7 to 8 years there should be major changes anyway.
