: OMG Front License Plate Holder
k9husker 04-11-2008, 03:44 PM Just my luck! Get a really cool car and the state of Nebraska says you must run a front license plate. Does anyone have any ideas on what holder to use other than the stock one? I have not installed anything just yet, so no holes in the front end.
Looking for a better way!:nopity

...........just to name a few.
As you will read, there are many very naughty boys and girls that don't have them......some not until the local law enforcement remind them.
It's a tough requirement but there are options as you will see.
Good Luck,

standby 04-11-2008, 08:53 PM Hey Ken, I'm not a bad boy, I just tell them I'm from Alabama. The plates are so thin in Californy that you have no idea they are stuck together, so I put both on the rear and will act really stupid if I get pulled over and tell the cop I only got one plate in the mail. If necessary I will go to the backk and with a very surprised voice, say,(OMG, there is two plates.)
The stupid part will be really easy for me.

XLR KEN 04-11-2008, 09:33 PM You wouldn't believe how close to right you are about getting away with it. You probably could in Alabama; even though we only have one in the back and none in the front.
When I went to register for plates last year, they issued me a new one for one of my vehicles, even though it's policy to keep the same for years and just put a new sticker over the old. The truth came out when I pressed for a reason.........
The State of Alabama accidently printed multiples of the same license plates for several numbers the year before and didn't know it until law abidding citizens started getting tickets and arrested for the bad guys activities. Mine was one "listed" as needing a replacement. How's that for STUPID..........
popbigguy 04-11-2008, 11:54 PM K9Husker,,,,, Been there done that!!! Some where in all these posts is the story of when a NE trooper pulled me over for no plate, bummer,,,,,, Here's what I did:

You know we've been trying to get together, with Ben too. We can do that sometime and you see how I did. 70 degree days next week!!! But I bet your sitting in snow right now aren't you?

k9husker 04-12-2008, 09:44 AM I have an idea...what if you mounted the plate on the flexable lower plastic cowling under the bumper. Mount the plate bottom flush with the bottom of the plastic and let the rest of the plate stick up in the opening above? I think you can still see the numbers for the cops but only about 75% of the plate would be visable. Would that be enough to keep the cops off my A_ _?
standby 04-12-2008, 11:18 AM Bama is not known for having one of the smartest I Q"s per capita, that said, I guess you can say that about any state, and Ken is not in the group.

standby 04-12-2008, 11:23 AM I'm sorry but that's just not right. Get one of those plates that slide under the bumper except when you press a button and it pops out. plenty of post about that license plate holder. I really would park my car in the garage and never take it out if I had to do this to it.
Sorry, just my two cents worth.

k9husker,
Take a look at MOTORBOAT's setup. I think that's what you are suggesting......

Chad,
You might possibly make enough in advertising on your "billboard" to help defray the cost of any tickets you may acquire. . .
Floyd
standby 04-13-2008, 11:27 AM I just don't understan this............If you going to put it on the front, why not just put it on the bumper.
Billboard? I agree.

popbigguy 04-13-2008, 03:38 PM I got the "billboard", because I had to come up with something fast. The repair order ticket only gives you five days to get it repaired! Yea, I have the front plate mounting kit from Caddy, but I don't want to drill any holes in the bumper!!! It may look bad, or as everyone puts it "billboard", but it keeps me from getting another ticket, and since I've had this car, I've gotten pulled over more in the year that I've had this car ("Club" member") than in the last twenty years of driving! Until I find some other kind of mount that I really like, this stays on to keep LEO away!
Chad
Motorboat (or anyone with the plate mounted similarly in the center of the mesh), I have three questions-
1) What did you use to cut the plate down with?
2) How is it attached?
3) Any problems with the location (higher engine temps, ACC operation, etc.)?
Thanks in advance.
