I received a letter today from the GM nav disc center. I have the 7.00 Nav disc, but the letter reads as follows:

To enhance your ownership experience, GM will provide you with a FREE! DVD disc update on the anniversary of your Certified Pre-owned vehcile purchase. Since the disc that you have has the most-up-to-date data available, we will wait to supply the disc when the next edition is released.

This is great news I wanted to share. I assume everyone that purchases a certified will get this benefit.

Thanks,
Casey

I just called to see about the two free updates with my 05 that the selling dealership told me about when I bought the car. As it turns out, according to gmnavdisc, the dealership gave me some incorrect information.

I was informed that I could purchase one for $200.

Another time 2005 is shown up by an 06 or newer is with Onstar. The Directions and Connections plan is $400 for an 05 and $300 for 06 and newer for the exact same service.

Such is life.

I hope you all are having a great day, I know I am!
Chad, when we re-torque the sway bar we might have a few other projects to handle.

All 06 models came with two updates whether or not you get one each year or one every two years. I got my 1st last year in March and will wait for a few years before getting my last one.

Yep and I understand that these free upgrades stopped after the 2007 model year. :cry

How much better are the newer nav disks than the old? Do they have a different look for the Nav portion? Do they enhance the radio controls? Do they include more POI's? Is it worth it to pay for an upgrade?

I will be interested in everyone's response on this one!

Here's mine:

1. No
2. No
3. Maybe
4. No ... we got the upgrade ... use it to travel interstate ... it still takes us on and off the highways (depending if there was road construction at the time it was recorded) ... but, yes, definetly gets us to our destination sooner or later. But the prior version did too. We still print Google maps.
5. No

Not worth the money!
I have an 06-V and received my new disk a year after my buy date and it still took me off the Interstate and tried to get me to go down a dirt road.............lots of luck with that one.
Bobo...........that's my contribution
