You probably need to break this down. There have been 4 reds, 3 blues, 2 blacks.

Whats the difference between 2006-2007's "Gold Mist", and 2008's Goldstream colors?

Does anyone have pictures of both?

I voted for red, but have always purchased silver cars. Silver doesn't look as dirty as quick during the monsoon season here.

I have an '06 'gold mist' that looks great with the V grill and chrome wheels. I have not seen the 'goldstream' in person, but in pictures it looks more like what I would call a 'standard' gold color. Cadillac uses the 'gold mist' on several of their vehicals - CTS, DTS, and others - but I have not seen the 'goldstream' listed for anything but the XLR.

Final note: the 'gold mist' changes in different lighting and pictures do not show the true color very well.

I would be very interested in seeing the Black Cherry mentioned in the New for 09 thread. I would like to see an ultra deep red. It has a lot of potential (from my perspective)

Black Cherry is not a new Cadillac color .... I had a Sedan DeVille in that color in the 80's! It was a great color .... and looks exactly like a perfect Bing cherry!

Before I bought the XLR, I looked at a couple of Porsche vehicles. They have a color named Macadamia that I really liked. I would like to see the XLR in a color close to it.

Ruth Ann,
that time Cadillac called this color "Dark Cherry"

My Dad had a 96 DeVille Concours in this color - it was very nice!

My XLR is "Thunder-Gray" and the thunder rolls on the Autobahn:glol :thumbs

You are probably very right, Hans .... when I was at the dealer yesterday they had one of the new cars outside on the lot and in the sunshine I could see that the new cherry color actually contains more of the purple tint ... where as mine had more black.

Now, BTW, Standby has come up with many different options to get you back in the navigator's seat for R3 .... 'hope you are considering one of them! :yesnod

Like I said, hibernation sucks....what's this about Dark Cherry. Hubby just got a new Silverado and he really wanted a "Dark Cherry" one. Settled for Graystone....same as last time. Wonder what a "DC" XLR would do for him. Maybe he'd drive it!!!!!
It's tuff to have such a great car in the Midwest....especially with the winter we've had. Now you now why I slept thru it.

Hey Q8KNIGHT

I am interested to know how your front plate is attached to the front fascia. Can you take a close up picture of your set-up or describe it?

Thanks.

JP,

By the picture it almost looks like it could be the europeon mounting for a front plate. I could be wrong though.

Mr. Q8, aren't you the one who asked why this car has a compass in the rear view mirror? If it is, all European XLR's have that.

QKNIGHT,

I see you did end up with the Satin Nickel. :thumbs Great choice!! It is a rare color for a rare car! It does stand out from the rest, as it does change colors from sun to shade in a gorgeous way, like the Gold Mist. The metallic paint color is truly awesome! Good job on the color selection and congratulations on your new toy!!! Enjoy it. :) Mea

After looking since November, to buy just the right used XLR, I bought Black.
Black wasn't even in my original list, but as I kept looking, and got to see the colors next to each other, black just made the lines of the car so much more defined.

Does the '08 Liquid Amethyst differ from the '04 N-M Edition? Has anyone ever seen the 2008 Liquid Amethyst color? Just curious . . .

Lola's mom
05-27-2008, 10:48 AM
We saw the Amethyest last October ... 2 as a matter of fact .... one brand new one at a Phoenix dealership, and one that drove into The Pavillion's Saturday night car show. I've not seen a NM edition ....

The amethyst is nice .... but not very exciting to look at ... a sort of understated elegance ....

But then, what does it for me is black or red :thumbs

Liquid Amethyst was discontinued at the end of the 2007 model year, it was exclusive to the Platinum Edition. It was a brighter color than the 2004 Ultra Violet on the Neiman Marcus edition.

If you haven seen the color simply click here:
