I am selling this 2004 XLR w/18972 miles only because I have decided to try a different sport - "Power Parachuting".
I love the car but just don't use it enough. The car is in Excellent condition. I need to wash it this weekend because it has a few bugs on the windshield and grill. I got to drive it yesterday LOL.

I have added so many extras I have lost count but will try to show most of them.

It has a GM extended warr. good til June 2011 with $0.00 ded.:party

Upgrades:
Chrome Rims, Chrome Grill, Passport SRX Radar Detector w/Laser Shifters, XLR Wind Screen, XLR Custom Trunk Lid cover, Lund Exhaust Tip, On-board Battery charger, XLR Storm Cover, I think I have every Brochure ever put out on the 2004 XLR plus a few different CD's, I also have a NEW Spare Shift handle, NEW Lower Grill assy.,

I still have the stock "Grill, Exhaust tips, & Rims" so the car could be put back as stock.
The car has the XM ant. but I never installed it. "It was an option that first year"

Asking Price: $48,900.00 O.B.O.
Thanks for looking,
Blaise

Any of us who went tot R2 can certainly vouch for this condition of this car, and the TLC that it has received. It is a real beauty and worth driving a few extra miles to own ..... :thumbs

Good luck, Blaize, in your new endeavor .... I hope you have a blast. We will miss you and Helen like crazy at R3. We were so fortunate to have driven in to BG with you last year .... that was so fun. Please stay in touch with the forum .. you are a real source of knowledge. And keep us posted on what you are doing ... you can always post on the Wives Club! :)

Best regards, Ruth Ann

Motorboat (or anyone with the plate mounted similarly in the center of the mesh), I have three questions-

1) What did you use to cut the plate down with?

2) How is it attached?

3) Any problems with the location (higher engine temps, ACC operation, etc.)?

Thanks in advance, and good luck selling that car. It's lovely.

BTW, didn't mean to deflect or highjack the post; this was really intended for the General Forum thread the link appeared in. Sorry.

RWD,

I used a band saw to cut the top and bottom off the plate.

I then used tyraps to hold it to the grill.

I have never had any over heat problems by putting it over the lower grill.
I ask some of the GM guys at RII about the cooling and they said they the motor gets most of its air from behind the front tires and that it should not give me any problems.

The ACC. sensor is behind the plastic cover on the driver side so it is not behind the Lic. plate. I mounted my Laser shifter in this covers and I still don't have any problems with my ACC.

OK, I got the word from god "Standby" that I can not get any of the $7200.00 back for the Factory GM extended warr. or the Upgrades I put on my car..
So the Kelly Blue Book says the car is worth a little over $46,000.00...
I am now asking $46,000.00 for very thing...

Don't mess with Standby he has pull with the people on high.. Just look on how well he is doing with his health problems now. It a miracle... LOL:angel

Sorry I am going to miss you guys at RIII but maybe if someone buys my car it will be there..

Blaise,
I didn't say all that, unless my memory is going. I was trying to let you know that we all have a very strong attachment to our vehicles and we think we can get lots of dollars for our baby's, but a lot of it is just bling and some people don't care if it's there or not and want to beat the hell out of you on the sales price.
We will miss you too and let the Lord be as good to you as he has been to me.

Thanks so much for the information.

I don't have access to a band saw, and my tin snips won't really do the job properly, but I'm sure there's a machine shop that will be able to help. The license plates are so thin you could almost fold them back and forth and tear them like a piece of paper.

I also appreciate the information on unintended consequences. Despite what I've seen posted on the forum about fears of heat build-up, etc., the car appears to induct almost all the air from a center opening beneath the front fascia and in front of the air dam and radiator- essentially like a C5 Corvette. Like them, it's basically a bottom-breather.

[Given the smallish mesh in the center plastic screen, it probably creates massive turbulence and almost behaves like a solid at speed.]

Not sure about the extended warranty info. If it's GMPP Major Guard, I've been told several times by the rep that sells GMPP at a dealer I work with that they're generally refunded pro rata. I haven't had to try, though. If my records are accurate, GMPP is at 800-631-5590.

Again, good luck on selling the car.

Can't see were I will go much lower.
I will just keep it or start taking off the things off that I added, then put the car back to stock using the old parts, sell the added goodies on ebay one at a time.
I think I can stop the extended warr. and get back some of my money.

I just don't have time for this great car....

Morning RA,
I would love to take it on another trip but Helen and I leave for Roatan on Sunday for a week do take a break and do so diving.

When we get back our boating season goes into high gear "we are already two weeks behind now" and I don't see where we can take a day off till Nov... We should not be taking off now if you ask our customers..LOL

They tell us we are in a recession but we don't see it around here... I have been looking for a trained marine tech. for 4 months and can't find ONE. I talked to other dealers and they are all in the same boat.. Can't find anyone that wants to work.. Paycheck yes, work NO... Oh well we will just do what we can do..

Hope you and Ray have a great time at RIII. Can't tell yet if STANDBY is going or not.. One day he says yes one day no.. He is the life of the party and would be missed. Hope he goes. To bad Hans can't make it... Want a team they make...

Maybe if I still have the car next year and IF they hold it at a different place "not BG, been there done that" Helen and I will try and come...

Oh, yes! Bobby is traveling with us ....!

Maybe someone, who knows someone, on this forum might know someone who needs a great job ... Hey, wouldn't that be something if the forum could help you out on that too?!

Well, I certainly don't want to wish you bad luck on selling your car (I think you are just about giving it away) .... but, some of us are very definetly not going to be able to make a third BG trip next year - and we are talking about having a true Rendezvous in Las Vegas .... very informal .... more of a vacation destination so that people could just sort of "meet up" .... and still have time to discover and play in Las Vegas on their own .... heck, I don't care what you are driving ... I'd just like to see you and Helen again!

After BG, I'd love to see how much interest is generated .... I bet a lot!

I think Bobby's post above would be a great idea!

gambling man what I meant was I have $7200.00 in added goodies. Part of that money was for the extended warr.
I think it cost me $2900.00 I am not sure of amount because I am at work and the folder on the car is at home. If you need to know the exact amount let me know and I will look it up.

That's a lot of car for the money but I think only the people that own them know that to be the truth. I had mine on the market for 6 months and finally have found someone to appreciate it . . . but for FAR FAR less money than I appreciated it for. Everyone who called on it was quoting auction dollars $24-28K. Mine was Raven and Shale, 27k miles. I started pricing it at $42K and, with the Corsa, eRotors, Concept wheels brand new tires and I could only squeeze $31k out of it last week. :banghead

IT'S A SHAME . . . . and I really don't understand it.

Yep, a late '04. Two of the guys that were serious lookers were from ourside of the Detroit area and their bids were no different . . . $31k was the high water mark, most were under $30k. I'm not sure about the oil price issue either. I see lots of Mercedes SLs selling and a bunch of Corvettes too. The XLR seems to be stuck in limbo between the luxury and the sportscar buyers and it's suffering.

It's back to the mid 80s exotics for me, the money about the same as the '07 XLR and in 3 years the exotics will be worth more than what I paid for them.

Take care everyone.
