Since I bought my '05 last Sept, I've been trying to play my homemade CD's in the car. I know some of you have problems, some don't. Anyway, tonight I was about to give up making some new CDs for the car, when I realized that most music download programs these days download the music in an MP3 format.
I took the downloads, changed them to an older format, the WAVE format, burned the CDs and they play perfectly in the car.
You can get a free program on the web called SWITCH to change an MP3 to the WAVE format at http://www.nch.com.au/switch/
I hope this helps as the boys back at my Caddy Shop just told me that home made CDs would never work.
It's almost "top-down" weather here in Atlanta again, so now I'm a happy camper and ready to cruise with my tunes:party

iTunes can convert 'em too, but it can also burn a regular audio CD from MP3 or AAC source files, so it shouldn't be necessary.

Doesn't the XLR play MP3 CD's like the C6 corvette?

Rick, if you have an I-pod you just have to burn a CD from the Sony website

My 05 will not play MP3s but I was under the impression that 06 and newer do.

Right, mine won't play MP3s that I make myself. There is a workaround in my post above, but I know there is more than one way to skin a cat.
Bottom line the player will not play home-made MP3s, but it will play WAVE

I know I'm resurrecting and old thread, but has anyone looked into this for the 06 XLR? I have 10s of thousands of mp3s and would hate to have to convert to wave just to play in the car. This is just an interim solution for me as I intend to install a CarPC with a Terabite hardrive in a few months.

Can the technology in Apples iTunes help??
Load some out to iTuunes, and use a format that works and then download them to a iPod or a iPhone and play them
