I have seen a seller on E-bay offering instructions to unlock the DVD so your passenger can work the navigation while the car is in motion. Does anyone know about this option?

I've done a lot of searching and didn't ever come up with anything reliable.

Well, you've come to the right place!!!

This works on 2004 and (i believe) most if not all 2005 models:

Hold the "note" key down. When the keypad screen comes up, press "1791" and then hit "Enter". Now remove the map DVD and insert a movie (or whatever) and enjoy!

I do not believe this works on 2006 and up models; GM removed that line of code (rather, their lawyers removed it!)!:banghead

You should find this code elsewhere on the forum. I may have transposed a number or two, since my X and I haven't been out in this c-o-l-d snowy winter so it's been a while since I've done this!!!

Ooops! Yeah, the code I gave is only to unlock the DVD player, NOT to change any of the NAV stuff while in motion. I don't believe there is a code to do that. Other members will chime in to either confirm or deny.

I will try it soon, we are also covered in snow. The Kentucky winter is lingering. Thanks for the info !!!
