Rumor has it that Cadillac will be freshening the XLR for the 2009 model year.

This would likely mean the new version would appear mid-year (though it is possible it could be as late as mid-2009 if Cadillac puts the model on hiatus for a time before bringing out the new model).

Expect styling to reflect the new CTS/STS/Provoq styling language as well as a brand new, fitting for a $75k car, interior.

Also, this may mark a change from the NorthStar V-8 engines (which are expected to end production in 2010) to versions of the GM smallblock V-8 from the Corvette. This could mean a new XLR-V powered by the same 550hp supercharged LSA V-8 from the CTS-V.

WELL YOU'LL JUST HAVE TO COME TO BG III TO FIND OUT AND SEE FIRST HAND FOR YOURSELF!!!!!

We'll get to see the new ones there before most other people.

I guess I will say it this way, the mid-cycle enhancement of the SRX was 2007, the mid-cycle of the STS was 2008 (Exterior only, just a new steering wheel) and the XLR is 2009. Don't confuse a mid-cycle with an all new vehicle like the CTS.

Are there changes, yes! When you think of 2004/2008 has had the same exterior look, the 2009 looks beautiful!

Guys and Gals,

I snatched this comment off of another site. Can anyone else dig up details?

The 2009 XLRs are getting a minor facelift, and that's it. Expect to see the new "honeycomb" grill on the front to match the '09 CTS-V, as well as the powerdome hood on the Non-V XLRs.

They're also eliminating the "base" model next year, and instead all XLRs will have the "Platinum" package, which includes chrome grill, optional thin spoke wheels, Alcantara headliner and sunshades and nicer wood trim (it's about time, too- all XLRs should have had this stuff since day one).

I hope they don't bling it up too much. My 2002 Escalade looks 100% better tha the current model with all the extraneous chrome .
