: Where's my fab?

So I have a problem. On New Years Eve we had a little get together and of course showing off my new girl was a must. Living in IL means it's a garage lookie and that's it. Now my FOB is MIA. So since she didn't go anywhere either someone took it with them, threw it away, or it ran away on it's own. I do have a spare, but lucky me it apparently was not progammed and does not work. According to the manual you can program it with the other FOB, but otherwise you have to take it to the dealer. Does anyone know of a way to avoid me having to have my car towed just to get this thing reprogrammed? I'm so frustrated, I'd rather have a key. :banghead

if you call cadillac roadside assistance, and there's a tech that services your area, he can probably come out and plug in a handheld computer and program your new FOB, or at the very least, get the car started so you can drive to the dealer and have them program the new FOB..

I agree with you.. I wish the emergency key could start the car too, instead of just opening the trunk..

How do you know that the 2nd Fob isn't programmed?? Usually as part of the servicing process both Fobs are set up.

Take it out in the garage and try it. If it doesn't seem to work I would invest in another Fob battery and try again before I went too much further with towing....etc.

The 2nd thing to do is to put the FOB in the pocket on the left side of the glove box and attempt to set it up using the instructions in the owners manuel.

I say this because when the Fobs are set up initially they are done one at a time.

Good Luck!!!

I did try changing the battery and it still did not work. Luckily the fob did turn up after 4 1/2 hours of searching. I have programmed the spare and plan to have some extra batteries around as well. So I guess this all ended well!
My lesson learned: I knew not to drink and drive, but now know not to drink and carry my keys anywhere even if I dont leave the house. Apparently my New Years Eve was a little TOO enjoyable.:party
