G,
They look like 20's..............regarless, nice rims. You should have ordered ski's to strap on the wheels like the bush pilots in Alaska. Don't feel bad, we west coasters don't have our tops down either, but we do have snow in the mountains.http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/18/18_6_1.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZS)

Yes I have had my top down all week - but the wet weather is moving in.

Galen - very very very SHARP!

Thanks, you are all very kind, and gracious. Bobo was right. They are 20's. Nine's on the front and ten's on the back. A modest one and a half inch lip in front and two inches in the back. I would have gone wider on the back but was advised against it. You know us old guy's like wide rear ends. I just wanted a more beefer look. It does look better from the rear. Kinda like the wide Vette look. The pictures don't show everything. The quality is outstanding. I wanted to keep the integrity of the car.

Looks good Galen!!! I wish I could drive down and see them but,,,,,, We're getting the same snow that you are (BUMMER)!! This is starting to be a winter to remember up here too! Maybe in the Spring before RIII, we'll have to all get together for a "pre" RIII meeting. Gotta show ya my Corsa and tunnel plate too! How about you Ben?
Chad

PS..... You had the Corsa first,,,,,, Now I suppose I'll have to buy some wheels too!!

Hey Chad! I was reading another post about some other guys wanting wings on the back deck lid. I think I'll pass on that. The tunnel plate, and that will be it. I'll be done. I haven't had the X out in three weeks. Might stick a charger on it. I'll be ready to do a "run" soon as March rolls around Chad. Later, G

Hmm, I believe the fronts are 255x35xZR20's and the rears are 285x30xZR20's 97W Nitto directional. With a wear rating of 300. Same ratings and standard as the Michelin's but a hell of a lot cheaper. The trade off was about the same. The run flats have a much stiffer side wall. But much more or a higher sidewall profile. Which makes up for the stiffness and poor ride. The Nitto's having a much smaller side profile but softer sidewall pretty much is a wash. So I ended up with pretty much the same ride as far as the tires are concerned.

Great looking wheels, Galen. Send some more pics. Would like to see a rear shot, to see the difference against stock. Bored here in Illinois, not being able to drive the X or the Harleys. I am becoming a master snowblower driver though:lol :lol See you at RIII!!

Galen and Chad,

I am always up for a little road trip with the XLR - barring no hazzardous road conditions exist.

Galen, your pictures are blocked from work so I have to wait until I get home to check them out, but by the sounds of it they are a big hit with the community. Congrats!

Let me know when and where to be and I'm there.

Ben.

Are the wheels Assanti AF131's? Can you recommend a distributor? What did they cost?

thanks,

Tek

Close, but no Tek King. Their the AF134's The reason the look like the 131's is the black vein I had painted down the groove in the middle of the spoke. I didn't want the 131's because the narrow gap is too hard to clean. And I like the sturdiness of the solid spoke. Look at the a$$ end shot of the X and tell me what's wrong! You will have to be good to catch it. Very good. No it's not the paper on the tire.

Good guess but no. If you look closely you CAN see the bracket and a tiny bit of the black bar. No cigar!

First of all you didn't get a shot of yourself in the reflection on the bumper, but then perhaps that was the idea...

Also, The little rubber strip that is on the bottom lip of the trunk lid. I don't see yours on the car. My dealership removed mine because it was rubbing on the bumper and turning my silver to black.

Other than that the camera got a little fuzzy around the license plate area. Are you using one of those super reflective stoplight camera defeating spray paints? ;-)

Ben.

And I will check the calendar and get back with you. I am thinking a Friday night to Saturday trip might be possible.

Your tires are on backwards. The right and left are swapped.

Galen,

You have installed a new exhaust system is it Corsa?

Galen,

Tek

Yes, if you look around at some of the other posts, you will find Ben and Chad changing out Chad's stock exhaust. When Ben, Chad and I were heading down to R11, Chad liked the sound so much coming out of my car, he changed out a brand new stock exhaust to Corsa. His was a little more involved than mine because his is a V and mine is a X. To make the Corsa fit he had to buy a Corvette "H" pipe also. But if you have the XLR, then it will bolt right up. Takes about 1 1/2 hrs. start to finish. Thats including taking the stock off also. I've got two things left to do to my car. Thermal plate on the bottom and the custom wind restricter that comes out of Dallas.

Galen,

The wheels look great, I am considering Asanti's myself and have read other posts that we need to be very careful with the size and offset, do yours rub at all? What is the offset of your front and rear wheels?

Thanks.

Galen
04-19-2008, 09:58 PM
I'm trying to remember but I don't know. I can find out tho. I can call the guy I bought them from, he'd know all that stuff. But no they don't rub. You can't offset them much because of the way Cadillac designed the brakes. They could have made them like the Corvette but they just didn't want large tires on this car. You can do so much with BMW and Mercedes. Cadillac has always been proprietary, and I knew that. You have a wiper motor go bad on a GM car, the parts houses say they will fit 15 different models. But you try that with a Caddy. It has to have that C on it to fit.
