Anyone ever put on some snow tires on the stock wheels?
I did a quick search and there aren't many run flat options.
The tire rack has one, other then that they are all regular non-run flat type tires.
Here is my only option as it seems.
Dunlop Winter Sport M3
(Performance Winter) Size: 235/50VR18
Serv. Desc: 101V Load Index 101 = 1819lbs (825kg) per tire
Speed Rating “V” = 149mph (240kph) Load Rating XL
any suggestions?

The other option is too use NON run flats! I use them for summer and so do most of my friends on there corvettes. Just get a compressor with a built in flat tire repair kit from tire rack! the box and all fits verticaly in the right rear hidden storage area price is about 80 bucks. That way you have many more options. Jim

Do these tires have a softer ride than the run-flats?

Here is what I have been told. The earlier run flats did not handle that well but the newest ones seem to be much better. That all said my corvette frineds dont care they still do not like them. This XLR group seems to like the run flats. In my personal situtation. My wifes 04 Red X came with the non run flats on and I was not about to spend over a grand to change perfectly good tires. Thats when I asked my Corvette pals what they thought and that was there opinion to keep what I had, not to mention that non run flats are much less money! jim

I would stay with the run flats.
I'm running the standard, Dunlop Winter Sport M3 (not runflat) on the stock rim (second season). The overall performance (wet & dry) is GREAT ... Handles better than the factory tires. Unfortunately, it seemz to be about 1" lower in profile ... Even thought the printed sizes are exactly the same. This may account for some of the better handling, but I really didn't want a wider & shorter tire for the winter.
Hope this helpz,

I too am running Dunlops, but the Dunlop aggressive V tread design on the rear and they stick really good on a full throttle smash at a light with no tire spin................just GOOOOOOOOOOO.
I will not put them on the front because of tracking. They have a tendency to follow every line in the road. I know this because I had them on my 04.I'm running the standard, Dunlop Winter Sport M3 (not runflat) on the stock rim (second season). The overall performance (wet & dry) is GREAT ... Nice write up 427!
My tires have 22,xxx miles on them. I can light them up whenever I want now. It doesn't even matter most of the time where I am on the speedo or what throttle position. Needless to say they are in pretty bad shape. So far I've had to only replace one tire due to a nail. And I'm afraid I might get stuck somewhere and have to abandon it in a snow storm. This winter looks to be a pretty bad one. Even a little coating of snow on my driveway and I'm in trouble drifting into my garage. lol. Although, this car is very predictable when in a skid, the tires are the biggest problem. I'm probably going to order these snow tires soon. We are expecting another big snow storm tonight. Thanks.

AM,
Where are you in NJ? We're originally from Westfield, before we chose to live in warmth here in Florida.
