All -

The service tech said NO - but I thought I would come and post here as well.

I love the new key fobs for the newer Caddys. You know the sexy rectangular one with the crest on one side?

Has any one attempted or can anyone validate if these fobs are interchangeable with an older model? Even if this requires replacing the remote receiver?

Thanks for any input.

You wouldn't happen to be able to get a FCC ID for the new fob, would you?

It was hidden on the inside of the FOB but here it is:

FCC ID: OUC6000066
IC: 850K-6000066

I do need to mention that this is the FCC ID from a 2008 SRX FOB which is a loaner while my XLR is in service. I pick up mine tonight. They have an '08 XLR on the lot I could see if I can get my hands on that FOB it you think there would be a difference.

I doubt they are interchangeable. I tried to use the keyless remote from my 2005 STS (it's also a keyless car) and it wouldn't work at all. However, the guts from the XLR fit perfectly in the 05 STS fob......

Spoke with a Master Tech at Palmer Caddy in St. Augustine FL. They are a newer dealership and not a lot of servicing is going through right now so it is like having my own pit crew down there. I will drive the extra 15 minutes for the better service.

He stated that they can not be programmed and the receiver component connections are different so that can not be replaced either.

Darn - I find the new fobs very sexy!

Ok, I got this info for the new style fob FCC ID of M3N5WY7777A manufactured by Siemens (VDO).

General Description
The Corporate Fob system consists of a RF transmitter integrated into the key and a RF receiver mounted
within the control unit. The transmitter is used to transmit information to the receiver for locking,
unlocking, opening the trunk, starting the vehicle, and Panic function. RF messages can be transmitted by
one of two means. The keypad on the key can be used for locking, unlocking, unlocking the trunk, panic,
and remote start (5 button version). Lifting the door handle or pushing the start button in the vehicle will
generate a LF field, which the key will respond to with a RF transmission to unlock or start the vehicle.
Power Supply
The transmitter is power by a single 3V CR2032 lithium battery.
Buttons
There are up to five buttons on the key, which are used for RKE lock, unlock, trunk, panic, and remote start.
Variants
There are six variants of the 215/245/295 keys. These variants are described under the device ID section.
All variants are electronically identical. The differences are in the packaging. There is a four button
housing, and a five button housing as well as two types of emblems. There are also two types of labels
(laser etch) which help the customer differentiate between key #1 and key #2.

RF transmissions are at 315MHz, LF transmissions are at 125kHz

So, that seems to state that the 215 (XLR), 245 (Corvette), 295 (STS) and 322 (new CTS) fobs should interchange. Anyone have the ID off their old style Fob?

I also found this in another report-

3.3 Variants
There are three main variants of the DUT associated with the eight model numbers above. All three
contain the same PCB, with software modifications for the different modulations and different button
configurations. These three variants are:
No. 215/245: 4 button modules with RKE 9.6 kb/s ASK modulation and RKE LF actuated
9.6 kb/s ASK modulation. RKE is normal power 9.6 kb/s data rate ASK
modulation
No. 295: A 5 button module with RKE 9.6 kb/s ASK modulation, RS 9.6 kb/s ASK,
and RKE LF 9.6 kb/s ASK modulation
No. 322: A 5 button module with RKE 2.84 kb/s ASK modulation, RS 2.8 kb/s ASK,
and RKE LF 9.6 kb/s FSK modulation
All variants are electronically identical. The differences are in the packaging. There is a four
button housing and a five button housing, as well as two types of emblems. These variants relate
to the models listed via:

The XLR is in the shop again today. I will get my FCC ID from my '05 when I get it back this evening.
