: Gas Mileage
motorboat 11-03-2007, 07:40 PM With gas prices going up everyday I thought I would check and see what kind of gas mileage I was getting with my 2004 XLR.
So when Helen and I took a short trip this last weekend I changed my display to show my INST "Instant" gas mileage.
The temp outside was 66 deg.
Flat highway and I set the ACC cruise and watched the display for about two to three miles each time.
Here is what I got..:thumbs
55 MPH = 33 MPG
60 MPH = 30 MPG
65 MPH = 28 MPG
70 MPH = 25 MPG
75 MPH = 23 MPG
Now I am not sure how accurate the readout is but HAY it made we feel good knowing I was get great mileage.
Hell of a lot better then the 14 MPG I am getting with my F150...:cry
I guess I will have to look into mounting a trailer hitch and use it for a company car/truck...:glol :glol

homegameroom 11-03-2007, 08:45 PM I think I usually get about 25 mpg on the highway, traveling at around 75 mph or so (plus or minus on the mileage OR the speed) on my base 04. The mileage obviously goes down if I abuse it a little, but is great otherwise!
Tons of horsepower, fantastic styling and features AND great gas mileage? Who could ask for anything more!:flag

Hans & I would like to put our gas mileage in this contest. RI from SOCAL to ALb. was 19.8 and the only time we where under 100 was to stop and get gas and every time we went over 130 our front right tire would start to loose air. RRII was a little better after we got pulled over doing 111 and then we settled down to around 80 which produce 22 for the whole trip and we where flying low from SOCAL to ALb. that six speed is great for mileage.

ps all fires are out but one that is 90% contained and everbody that has a home left has gone home from the evac areas.guess you heard the rest of the story. http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/23/23_33_12.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZS) http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/424.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZS)

Cliff8928 11-03-2007, 11:10 PM Wow, I wonder what my MPGs next week will be on my trip to Charlotte, NC. It's the first roadtrip it has been on. I know i can swing from like 16-19 in my mostly city commute to work depending on traffic and driving habits. I just filled up at the local BP station earlier in the week for $3.29/gal.
homegameroom 11-04-2007, 07:09 AM Lola got great mileage per gallon- especially with the DOCUMENTED speeds she was going! :lol
I haven't had a ticket in my X.... yet. I'm headed to NYC next weekend- I probably just jinxed myself!
LinSue 11-04-2007, 08:15 AM We monitor mileage in our rides obsessively....and the Tahoe is the worst. When I got BleuBelle she only had 2100 miles in two years and display showed 23.7mpg. However, she didn't get much exercise. Mileage has been dropping steadily with only intown driving until yesterday when Jeff (son pictured with Suwanee) took her for a performance run. When I gas her up today, should be interesting and I'd love to see top speed she hit yesterday. In the scheme of things here, she will probably be 2nd best for mpg. Hubby's Silverado averages over 18 and new Impala a whopping 28. Me thinks I should be driving that one. Can you tell we're a GM family all the way?
Lola's mom 11-04-2007, 10:05 AM Yeah, that was a pretty accurate reading in New Mexico --- seems like we were only one of about six that got that documentation ....:D
i'm sure crossing TX, NM, AZ & CA had a lot to do with maintaining a good mph... straightaways, and being able to maintain around 80 for hundereds of miles at a time.
LinSue ..... GM makes John Deere?? :glol
HGR ... how fun to go to NYC in the X! You'll have to let us know if you see any around that area ... or does everyone drive a taxi cab up there :confused

Ya got me on that one RA, kinda. GM for all personal rides, unfortunately we have not limited ourselves to JD tractors.....there's just too many good "oldies" out there Jr. can't resist....like Allis, Oliver, International....need I go on? Time for an auction IMHO:banghead :banghead Never gonna happen!
Lola's mom 11-04-2007, 10:37 AM Ha-ha, LinSue .... looks like we hijacked another thread! :eek
So, to get back on track .... what mph does the JD get? :jester
LinSue 11-04-2007, 11:19 AM Depends, gas or diesel?:confused Heck the old ones go so slow it doesn't matter. But the new fun machine with computer (jr hasn't figured it out yet, he just "points and shoots":crazy ) goes down the road at 28 mph. I'm sure there's a mpg button on the screen to push. I'll ask the one who knows...Jeff :thumbs

Blaise,
It's a limited production item, but here is a photo of your new company car.
The problem is that it wouldn't even tow a rubber duckie.........
Ken
homegameroom 11-04-2007, 05:51 PM Maybe you can't tow a duckie (or a bunny), but you can sure haul @ss with it!!!!! :cool (I hope that doesn't get me kicked out of here!!!!
motorboat 11-05-2007, 04:56 AM Ken,
I saw it at RII but was afraid to copy it because I am sure it has patent rights to it..:glol :glol
Now maybe if I can get those new SUPER magnets for it I am sure it hold well enough to put the 22' boats I have to haul...:thumbs
Anything bigger I will have to use my truck I am sure...:lol
Do you think the 2009's will come with ALL wheel drive???:jester
Dame I have high jacked my own post.. Getting just like Ruth Ann..:eek
