: Tire talk.
Lola's mom 10-09-2007, 08:57 PM i know that most of you have some experience with this ... so, could you offer up some advice, please.
We are buying the GM chrome wheels for Lola .... and we are going to use our runflats and TPM's ... and well, here we go again with my dealership (who sends my car down the street to be washed) .... I asked them to quote me a price for mounting the 4 tires .... they told me that they don't do the work there ... that they send the cars over to Discount Tire because they have the tools needed for the runflats .... Okay, so, we've said the same thing ... what the h*ll kind of dealership are we dealing with?? :boxing .... DESPITE this .... has anyone had Discount Tire do the work for them?? Any problems?? Any advice?:)
SilverX 10-09-2007, 09:02 PM I would want to know if they are responsible for damage they cause on your new wheels...:eek A wheel and tire shop quoted $30 a wheel to move my tires to new rims. :skep
Jetboyphx 10-09-2007, 09:35 PM I bought my replacement OEM's from Discount because they where the only place in town that had them in stock and they were $80+ per tire cheaper than the dealer. The also did the wheels on my GTO and stood behind some manufacturing defects on one of those. I've been using them for most of my tire needs for the last 30 years.

I wouldn't hesitate going to Discount or any other reputable tire center as that's all they do. They have all the equipment and know all the "ins and outs" dealing with run flats and sensors. Had mined swap out to the chrome rims for around $120. Good Luck:seeya

We just put the Cadillac chrome wheels on our 06 last week. The tire store I took them to changed the tires to new rims and balanced them for $10.00 each. I did not take car to them only wheels and tires.
We had had a run flat tire go down and they repaired the tire when no one else would try to fix it.
It is a large privately owned store. They are great.

06xlr 10-10-2007, 11:42 AM Same here ,Had the factory alloy rims on my 2006 XLR swapped out with OEM chromes last week, at a local tire store (Southampton Tire ),place has been there for years,But because of the TPS and Runflats cost turned out to be 35.00 per tire instead of the original 20.00 quoted over the phone!,regardless ,They did a great job ,no scracthes or dings,The difference they make on your car is PRICELESS .....................Go For It ..........Rich:cheers
Lola's mom 10-10-2007, 12:54 PM I am glad I posted .... you guys have given me a lot of reassurance. :cheers
Now, all I have to do is place the order .... and write the check ... ouch! :glol
556393 10-10-2007, 07:07 PM I bought 4 new Goodyear run-flats from Discount Tire, the tire that comes on the 07` xlr.... out the door for $938.00. The Cadillac shop here in town referred me to an outfit that does all their tire and wheel work for them and they quoted me a price of $2100.00 for just for the tires. Guess what.... they didn`t get my money. A little off subject but, I was checking online for Corsa cat-back systems for my 06 and found a parts dealer that wanted $1470.00 or there abouts for the Corsa brand exhaust system. I after 3 tries of e-mailing Corsa I finally heard back from the sale staff and I was quoted a price of over $2000.00 for the same system but,the freight was going to be on them. I e-mailed them back and asked how a third party could sell me their product for $600.00 less. Guess what... no reply. What is wrong with people?
RickH 10-10-2007, 07:49 PM Well, after waiting a couple of days for my Caddy dealer to get around to putting on my new wheels, I'm supposed to get it back tomorrow. Actually, when I brought it in for the wheel change, my check engine light had gone on the night before, so they checked it out and they "think" it was a loose gas cap. On top of that, they found a small leak in my radiator, so they replaced that too. Then while they were at it, they did a walk around and noticed that the headlights needed to be replaced because they looked like they were melted a little. I had seen that before bringing it in, but forgot to mention it to them.
Anyway, I'm supposed to get it back tomorrow and hopefully will have a couple of pictures showing the new wheels later tomorrow night.
standby 10-10-2007, 08:57 PM The answer is simple................you own a flagship Cadillac, so people are going to up the ante.

Rick,
You are fourtunate. I have to point out everything I want addressed or fixed on the car to my dealership. And they don't go looking for more.
Ben.

And I think YOU are fortuanate, Ben ..... my dealership sends my car out for, so far: bodywork, washing, and now mounting of the wheels ....... I would think that they are assuming a lot more liability by driving my car to and from these places, and leaving it there for work ..... but, that's what they do. :banghead
