Hi All,
New to thread. Does anyone have Goodyear Eagle F1's on XLR? Thinking about trying them, but always get nervous switching. I've heard from people with Vett's the F1 are great and have much better handling than Mich. Pilot Run Flats.

Is there any way they could be worse than the Michelins? They're way too noisy and don't grip worth a darn! They'd be replaced already if the car wasn't a lease.

I would recommend the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3 however. They're most definitely the best tires I've had for the summer for both wet and dry conditions. Most of the 'vette guys usually have the F1 Supercar if i remember right, those usually don't fare as well in the wet weather.

Also, do yourself a favor and upgrade to a 255/45R18 tire if you're keeping the stock wheels. Those 235s are just way too narrow!

I had an 04 and now a 06-V and in each case I replaced the run flats with 20's............no flats or problems and made two runs back east,................. that was a gamble.
The Pirellis where my first choice on the 06, and where sticky, but the rears wore out in 11,000 miles. I just replace them with ZR20 Dunlops @ $309 apiece. I stomp the hell out of them and it just sits and squatts and digs in with no tire spin. They also have the aggressive V tread which really looks nice on a sports car. I still have the Pirellis on the front with mormal tread design for better stearing.

dipasquale, I notice that you live in Michigan.

This is from the Tire Rack blurb on the non-EMT DS3:

"Like all summer tires, it is not intended to be driven in near-freezing temperatures, through snow or on ice."

There is no information at all on the EMT version, but the tread pattern seems intended for dry handling and water dispersion, not Mud/Snow.

This won't mean anything if you only drive the car in the warm weather, and the disclaimer is common on similar performance tires, including the PS2. Like all disclaimers, it may or may not have meaning for your situation. FWIW, and if you find a tire you like, please post the result.
