:yesnod I recently had a rear stabilizer bar put on my 2006 XLR and was wondering if anyone else had done the same thing and logged enough seat time or had some empirical data as to its effectiveness. All that I have learned so far is that it does not have any negative effect on the ride. I know its standard on the V so why wasn't it on all XLR’s? The reason can't be cost. I really haven't driven the car hard enough to know if there is a performance gain but it makes sense that there would be.
I'm pretty sure the rear stabilizer was left off the standard XLR to improve the ride where the typical XLR (non-V) driver is probably not going to push the car very hard anyway. A few members have also installed the stabilizer and like the difference. Mrs. Caly is the principle driver of ours and she has no need for the stabilizer. I would miss it in my Vette.
Welcome to the fourm.

I installed the bar a few weeks after BG and it made a ton of difference in handling! I never noticed any difference in the ride at all. The bar on the X is even larger then the ones on the Vette ive been told! Its the wife car but when together she always wants me to drive. I dont think she want me to change the exhaust though! The bar and grill was about it! jim

Ben, (XLR28) will be at my house Sat morining. We're putting on his stabilizer bar. I know some of you guys have done this. What did you torque all the bolts and nuts Ft/lbs too?
There was also a post about someone that has done this, wished that they would of grease the bushings before or was it after something that the job would've been easier?? I can't find the post. What was it? Help somebody!

According to the Service Manual for the XLR-V, the rear stabilizer shaft link nuts are to be tightened to 76 N-m (56 lb. ft.). The stabilizer shaft insulator clamp bolts are 65 N-m (49 lb. ft.) and the shaft insulator clamp nuts to 95 N-m (70 lb. ft.).

It will take more time jacking the car up than it will take to put it on. I think Ben still has my number if you need direction. G

Saturday morning went well.
We used Chad's race ramps and just backed onto them. Then backed his V up behind us to use as an example.... Eight nuts/bolts later and about 30-45 minutes and it was all done. We started with the linkages and got them bolted on, then went to the U shaped brackets that connect the bar to the frame and tightened them. Then went back and torqued them all. - Nothin' to it.
Chad was dissapointed that it was all over so soon. I think he is itching for a sizable project for the car.
White Cadillac in NC hooked me up with the parts and threw in all bolts/nuts that I would need. It was less than $150. In my opinion a great investment.

Ben .... and thank you for all of that! :cheers
This forum is the best .... I just copied and pasted your post into my "keeper" file ...
That along with the previous pictures are exactly how we should share our mods ... so much better than trying to re-invent the wheel.
Sounds like the project was more fun than work!:cheers
