Anybody know that there was a 362-pound limit on the safety rating on our XLRs?

At 265 pounds, Ron Larson of Henderson, Nev., says he and his 150-pound wife were unaware of the limitations two years ago when they leased a Cadillac XLR two-seater with a 362-pound capacity. "If the dealership knew there was a weight restriction, they should have told us," he says. And the information should be on the window sticker, not the door frame, he says.

No wonder they never gave a thought to trunk capacity with the top town. One sack of potatos and that trip home from the market could be your last! :eek

thats pretty incredible.
In 2002 the average weight for all American men was 191 and women 164.
....and we are heaviest in our 40s and 50s!!

I wonder how many are driving overweight vehicles??
Are there insurance ramifications?

I am anxious to check that out when I get home. That information does not seem to be in the manual. It does provide examples of how to compute your luggage capacity by subtracting passenger weight. All of their examples are based on a 400lb capacity. For all the available options in the XLR... there is no logical reason it couldn't be in the manual.

I know, I saw that label the other day and I thought it was absurd.

What does the weight limit on the XLR actually mean? What is supposed to happen if it is exceeded??? :confused

I can attest to the fact that it doesn't slow it down ... ahhh, R2 New Mexico ......:D
