Someone asked me about filters and cutting the matting out and I can't find the post............Damn, I hate when that happens. I'd be happy to inform them what I did for 25 to 30 HP according to the tech at BG if they would just pm me or put up another post.

Bob, That q was by lil ol me!! I am looking into the air filter and the Volant site seems to cover it. I was also wondering about the non V where you stated something about removing some panel for more air? or was that just the V model? Thanks. jim

Oh good, yea Ruf, I did this to my V and the tech in Bowling Green told me I probably picked up about 25 to 30 HP by removing the matting.
It won't do you any good because the grill on the normal XLR isn't open and there is no air going in the top part of the grill and damn little down below.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut, you could go for the V grill and then that matting probably isn't even in there and the two holes are because GM wouldn't be worried about water getting in with a closed grill. If you get what I'm saying here. I had to read this twice to see if I understood what I wrote.Bob, That q was by lil ol me!! I am looking into the air filter and the Volant site seems to cover it. Bob, I already did install the V grill on the top only just brfore BG. So I guess now all I need is the correct air filters from Volant! Thanks

Ruf, I'm thinking that the matting is not on the regular XLR because there was no air being introduced to the upper original grill. Ger a flashlight and look inside the grill and see if you can see two long rectangular holes directly in front of your filters. If you can't see the holes, then you have to take the plastic top covering the radiator off. The plastic snaps will break when you remove them and can be replaced at any local automotive store. Plugs also hold the matting on. Pop them off and put the matting and enough plugs in the trunk for that really hard rainy day that you may need to cover the holes again. Bob
PS pictures are on one of the posts concerning Volant. If you can't find them, I will put up some new ones.
