SilverX 09-12-2007, 06:05 PM Bruce and Kathy
We are interested, please send the departure and drive location. It's probably not far at all for us.
JP & Joanne :seeya
cadillac tech 09-12-2007, 07:57 PM We could meet on the North side of Indy around 7:30 am and caravan down to Nashville, Indiana. People from the south could just meet us in Nashville,IN. From there we will take a scenic drive south, stop for lunch and maybe drive over to French Lick/West Baden area. It should just be nice day to get together and do some driving with friends.
Bruce
SilverX 09-12-2007, 08:14 PM Nashville IN is about a 200 miles ride for us. I think we can get there early. At the end of the day (:cheers ), we would probably find a place to rest in that area (:yawn :sleep ) and drive back Sunday AM. :yesnod
So far, count us in. :thumbs
JP & Joanne
cadillac tech 09-12-2007, 08:19 PM That sounds great.:thumbs

Las Vegas Dave 09-24-2007, 03:27 PM Hi Bruce,
Thanks for setting this up.
Count me in for that drive down to Nashville, IN and the West Baden Hotel/Casino. Should be a memorable day.
Las Vegas Dave
homegameroom 09-24-2007, 07:39 PM I'll probably join in also. I was in New Hampshire this past weekend and it was VERY close to peak color! Spectacular views in every direction!
cadillac tech 09-26-2007, 06:50 PM Here's the route that I've come up with so far.
Leave Indy on 37 south to Bloomington.
Pick up 46 east to Nashville
Pick up 135 south to Corydon
Pick up 62 west 162 north to Jasper
Pick up 231 north to 56 east to French Lick and West Baden Springs
Let me know what you think and what needs changed.
Bruce
homegameroom 09-26-2007, 07:02 PM I have some annoying questions (sorry!):
Any suggestions on hotels, and about how long is the drive (time and/or hour wise)? I'd like to attend, but I would have a 4+ hour drive just to get to Indy. What time/place are you folks planning on meeting and starting?
The route sounds (and looks) like a great one! :yesnod
cadillac tech 09-26-2007, 07:55 PM We will meet at 56th and Keystone Ave. on the Northside of Indy around 7:30 am.
I would suggest finding a hotel in the Castleton area. Let me know if you need help. I'm not sure how long the drive will take. I'm sure we will make several stops along the way so it makes it tough to figure total time. I'm thinking atleast 5 hours with stops for lunch and sightseeing. Let me know what you think.
Bruce
Las Vegas Dave 09-27-2007, 02:53 PM Folks,
Here are some places to stay for those that are coming down from the North/East/West that will want to stay overnight Friday 10/19. All these places are pretty new, and only about 10 -15 minutes from our starting point at Lockhart Cadillac.
They are located at the 96th street (exit #3) of I-69 which intersects the 'one o'clock' position of the #465 Beltway that circles Indianapolis.
Residence Inn, Comfort Suites, Hilton Garden Inn, Holiday Inn Express,
Springhill Suites, Staybridge Suites.
Also plenty of places to eat, movie theatres etc.

Thanks for the info Dave! Looking forward to coming down--haven't been to Indy in about a year. Love the Nashville area--ride my Harleys down there every year. See ya in about three weeks.
Cubby558:cool
cadillac tech 09-29-2007, 01:12 PM I talked with Dave today and he said he would drive the route next Sat. and see how long it takes and to also check out the roads for construction. He wanted to find a good place for lunch and other attractions along the way. He's the best :D
Bruce
SilverX 10-09-2007, 11:12 AM Only 10 days left before the South Indiana Drive ... :cool
See you there. :party
SilverX
cadillac tech 10-09-2007, 02:54 PM JP do you have a place to stay on Friday night? Are you heading home on Sat. ?
Dave ran the route yesterday and thinks everyone should love it. We are shortening it up from the original plan. We will take 135 down to Salem, IN and take 56 west to Paoli, IN and take 150 to West Baden Springs. When we leave to head home we will take 150 west to 50 to 37. Everone should eat a big breakfast and take some snacks, because we will have a late lunch. Dave has some ideas on where to eat lunch. Stay tuned for more info,:D

Bob,
You could put him in the trunk and take out the center storage so he could stick his head through, but then you couldn't do ant top down driving--weather permitting:lol :lol Let me know if Paula and you are going for sure and if the Hampton Inn is where you're staying. My wife Marion and I are planning on being there Friday night also.

SilverX 10-11-2007, 02:44 PM I am not familiar with the area. Yes it is the one in Fishers on Commercial Drive. I know that it's a little bit North-East of the dealer. I tought it was the closest Hampton Inn. I believe that other people reserved there as well. If you think it's a mistake, please post, Email or PM ASAP.
SilverX :)
rleonard1 10-11-2007, 08:37 PM The Hampton hotel only has $160/night rooms left. I'm going to try to find something a bit more reasonable.

cadillac tech 10-20-2007, 08:42 PM It was a perfect day for a drive (300 miles). After we got out of Bloomington we had very little traffic to speak of. The roads were awsome! Twisty and scenic. We met two nice ladies in Freetown (bathroom stop). The West Baden Springs Hotel was beautiful. If anyone is ever in the area they should check it out. We sure enjoyed seeing everyone and we're looking forward to getting together again. It was great to hear that 2 people won some money today. I've already started on the pictures and should get them out soon.
Thanks again to all that went with us today, it was a blast,

Las Vegas Dave 10-20-2007, 09:33 PM Today was a glorious day for the Indiana Fall Drive...............
We gathered early.
We drove like the wind.
We basked in the fantastic views.
We laughed.
We drove our rides to their limits.
We visited an 8th wonder of the world.
We ate and enjoyed the camaraderie of fine folks.
We took a gazillion pics.
We watched a wedding.
We had to go home, darn it.
We have our memories, pics, and bug splattered windshields.
We loved every minute.
We should do this again.
We thank you Bruce and Kathy for setting up this memorable day.
I thank you all for a great 300+ miles and smiles.
Las Vegas Dave
SilverX 10-20-2007, 09:38 PM Thank you Dave for the "Test Drive" to ensure a perfect ride...! :thumbs

I wanted to Thank Las Vegas Dave for setting up the special parking and lunch for the group at the West Baden Springs Hotel. They really know how to take care of people.
For anyone who likes great driving roads (Twisties) the route we drove yesterday is one you should do. The section of 135 just south of 46 from Stone Head to Becks Grove is awsome! Paoli to Shoals on 150 is awesome as well. Don't forget to stop in and say Hi to Darlene and Jenny at the Freetown Grocery in Freetown, IN.:D

cadillac tech 10-21-2007, 02:26 PM Kathy and I have been organizing XLR driving trips since '05. We were told in the beginning that XLR people weren't interested in getting together with other owners. It goes to show how little people actually know about the owners of the car. It has been great to see the XLR community grow.
This was our 5th XLR event of '07 and probably the last one this year. We are already looking forward to next year.
It is nice to see more and more events going on through out the country. XLR people are a lot of fun to hang out with and they enjoy driving their cars.:party
