We've had discussions with XLR Lover (Floyd) about the suede inserts in the V's seats and both of us would like to know if the seats are swappable with those from a regular XLR. None of us likes those inserts - Floyd appropriately calls them "Velcro" - and that was revealed quite clearly in the Bowling Green focus group. It was obvious that reaction completely took the GM / Cadillac folk by surprise. In fact, one of them remarked they had even given consideration to increasing the amount of suede used in the V seats. The group elaborated its preference by saying the regular leather seats were more comfortable and luxurious, and the shape / contour of the seats was more than adequate to keep one from sliding around during performance maneuvers.

In subsequent individual discussions with the XLR folk at Bowling Green we got different impressions about whether a V seat could be replaced with a regular one. Floyd got the notion that they are swappable while we were told they were incompatible. So, bottom line is we don't know what the correct answer is. Any thoughts on the matter out there?

There are a number of companies who make new skins for Corvette seats... I would suppose they could fix that or make some custom ones you would love. Try these guys and see if they offer anything: http://www.vetteessentials.com/

After sitting in both the XLR and V model seats, I would suggest Cadillac invest in some adjustable side bolsters, both upper and lower. I guess they decided to use suede as a stabilizer; cheaper than adjustable bolsters!

I allways prefered the seats in the Vettes I have had over the XLR seats. Now on RII when I got my first drive with my daughters GTO I must say these seats fits also perfect.

Yes, I agree. The XLR can get by without the need for bolstering, although I would prefer to have it. The V on the other hand, is a high performance roadster, no other way to describe it. Cadillac missed the mark by a mile by not including adjustable bolster seats. Just my two cents worth, but once you have driven a high performance car with bolstered seats, you realize why they produce them!

Find yourselves a local trim shop. In Raleigh I use Auto Tops and Interiors. They can fabricate an insert to match and replace your velcro center. It can easily be stitched in. Probably cost you $100 per seat or there abouts. Hope this helps.:cheers

Through your local dealer, you can order factory seat covers in all leather. V-Series owners that want all leather, all they would have to do is order:

1- Bottom cushion cover from the base XLR in the correct color
2- Center cushion (Middle) cover from the base XLR in the correct color
3- Top/Side bolster cushion cover from the base XLR in the correct color

Complete process including labor should be ABOUT $1500.00 for both seats

For base XLR owners that want the V-Series interior:

1- Bottom cushion cover from the XLR-V in the correct color
2- Center cushion (Middle) cover from the XLR-V in the correct color
3- Top/Side bolster cushion cover from the XLR-V in the correct color

This should work for previous models up to current.
