I don't know how it works in other states, but in California you can order personalized/vanity license plates without having the car. All you XLR people out there might want to be the first to grab some of the better plate possibilities!

California allows only 7 characters.

On our first attempt we reserved MYNMXLR but decided XLR XTC was much better and reserved it. I think XLR8 is also clever but two was enough.

Mine is simple and it's on my car now. Everyone calls me Jay so it reads JAYSXLR.

I have a second home in California on the beach in Crystal Cove. My plate (with a whale tail background) is CCCOAST.

As an FYI, I have a Daimler Chrysler electric car in the garage there with the plate GOTPLUG.

I grabbed XLR XTC the day after my wife grabbed MYNMXLR... (NM=Neiman Marcus). We decided mine was better and that was that. But I do like XLR AV8R. Taking flying lessons was not in the mindset at the time. This was more than 2 years ago.

i made it on friday, must have had a 50 people look at our cars -- the general impression is that CAD finally did something right! -- will keep my eyes open for your car and give you a flash!

New Mexico, U.S.A., it is 7. Well, Jim's reads XLR and mine reads JELCTS. I always wanted a plate that no one could figure out and I have it! It has absolutely nothing to do with any car! On my Prowler I have PRWLER and on my Auburn I have HAZ#BEN, on Jim's '54 it says 54CADDY on his '50 Dodge, Coronet taxi it reads TAXI nnd on my '55 it says 55CADDY, The only non prestiege? plates are on the '66 Cadillac and on the Escalade ESV. I could have put 157/250 on my new one, but then people would be able to figure it out. :glol :glol :glol :glol :glol :glol

I think I live in the capital of SL's in Orange County, CA and love blowing the SL500's off, However, I ran into a SL600 and he kicked my butt, hence the order for the new V in March.

New to the forum with new 05 xlr and got the plate R XLR in CA. we have a sl 500 and a 99 corvett and Iam sure that the xlr is bad ass by far. I lowerd it about 1 1/2 '' and put 20'' boss wheels onit it is the coolest car I ever had in my garage will post a photo as soon as I know how. John ho ya the sl 500 is for sale.

Well, over here in Germany the best license plate I could get was
KT XL 888 (first one or two it`s the city - here it stands for Kitzingen)
one or two letters must be in middle
numbers on last 1/3 of the plate can be from one to four
here in Germany you can see on any car what city it`s from!!!

My o6 XLR in florida is sporting the tag O COOL which I transfered off my o5 vette. which get lots of attention. Have had this same tag on several vettes prior to my latest purchase. In NJ I've had the same plates for 35 years on all of my cars 3 EVL. Many people ask me what it means or tell me my plates say evil. We have vanity plates that can be a combination of 7 letters and/or numbers. My plates were what were called Senatorial Courtesy plates - You had to get them through a state senator. 3 letters and a number from 1-10 (the lower the better) The E stands for the County of the person who got them for me and the VL were supposed to be my initials. They didn't have IL so I took the VL. My wife's caddy is 3-2 EVL, the Infiniti is is 3-3 EVL and my Allante is 3-4 EVL. I have to stop buying cars

Mine's not here yet but in Texas you only get 6 letters so the one I have coming is 2BAD 4U with the logo of texas in the middle.
