Is Everyone Aware Of The Xlr Specials At The Xlr Botique On Line? I Just Purschased A Black Plated Stainless Lower Grill To Cover That Cheep Plastic One That The Teeth Brake So Easily. There On Sale At Huge Discouts. They Even Have Original Xlr Literature That The Dealers Used To Supply For Under A Buck! I Just Received The Stainless Mesh Grill Set But I Do Not Like The Visual Look Of Shinny Metal Along Side Black Plastic. The grills are Cadillac Licensed so there fit right and work properly. jim

accidantly, my lower grill got damaged by small wooder palate on the high way.. therfore, i asked the agency to change it all to the XLR-V grill type and painted it black for me, am just waiting for the reply from them if it fits or not..if not, am going to buy the custom grill and adjust it and paint it black as it will look nicer when its mate black coated but not shiney..

I read somewhere that the two side cheap plastic stops the air to flow inside more as it might be one of the main cause to overheat where is cupholder and its sides..

anyway, i will update you and possible that i snap a shot and post it here for all :)

I purrchased the V grill set. Saw the ad on ebay and then purschased it directly from the MFG. The set on ebay top and bottom v mesh grills are 575 I paid about 430. I did not like the lower shinny mesh cover so I am not using that. Cadillac does sell the black coated stainless one that looks exactly like the plastic one but goes in front of it and does not cut down on any air flow. Thats the one on sale that I purchased. The newer 07-08 V's have a full black lower grill that i d really prefer, Im just not sure it fits 04's? Jim

We think you will continue to be pleased with it based on our experience. They hold up extremely well and we can only wonder why Cadillac isn't using something similar as OEM.

Best regards,

The problem with better products is they always cost more in most cases. The plastic lower grills would diffently be alot cheep than painted metal. Just remember that lower grill is actually the full length of the space! The 2 smoked plastic pieces on either side cover the remainder of the full grill. Jim

Did you actually installed the V wire mesh lower grill? If yes, did it affect the operation of the Adaptive Cruise control?

What is everyone using to repaint the lower grills from the XLR boutique? It starts coming off pretty fast after a couple thousand miles.

Jetboy, I have mine in about 4K so far no chips! My front end paint chips Im forever touching that up but the grill is ok. That all said Id remove it over the winter and either send it out for powder coating or just clean up real good and get some Chassie black paint from Eastwoods in PA. Just hang it up on a wire and spray it. jim

I don't like posting sour grapes, but I bought the black metal cover for the lower plastic grill also. After my first 1,500 trip there were noticeable chips on it. I actually took it off when I got to BG because it looked awful next to all those other clean cars! I just threw it out- how expensive can the replacement plastic be? (probably $895, based on windscreen prices! :crazy );)

I guess I consider myself fortunate. I've got over 20K on the XLR and not a chip in the lower grill. It's the original plastic one and now I'm gun-shy on switching to metal. I've heard several tell of bullet holes in the plastic ones and paint chips in the metal ones so I'm torn............

The factory plastic ones are covered under warranty.

The lower pod area can be covered under owner good will one time, mainly due to the smoked plastic lens that covers the adaptive cruise pod.

We have had a number of clients that seem to play chicken with gravel trucks. One client had a hole that was over 2" wide in the center section. It is like insurance, it's a game of chance. The longer you have your XLR and the more you drive it, the greater chance of having the lower grille area damaged.

Bruce,

My local dealership here said that my grill was not covered under warranty since I probably hit a rock and broke it. They would not replace it. I have since changed dealers but have not brought up the grill. It has been in the new shop and they haven't offered to replace it either. What documentation do I need to get my lower center grill replaced?

Ben.

Regarding documemtation you are looking for, there is no such paperwork, it is damage and not covered. But as I mentioned, as owner good will, it is up to dealer discretion to ask the factory if they would cover it as Good Will.

I wasn't picking on you, I was just trying to say it's not covered as a warranty replacement. an example would be when my son accidently threw a rock through one of my new windows in my house, and I went to Pella to have them replace it under warranty. Over many months my son reimbursed me.

Ben, I would think that would be under your insurance rather than warranty. If you bashed a fender in, you wouldn't expect GM to fix it.Bruce,
