MY WIFES 04 THE DAY WE BROUGHT HER HOME! JIM
rufcar 08-01-2007, 03:18 AM Bob, Can you tell me the correct color for my car? Its was sold to me as "Magnetic red" but it looks like "Crimson pearl"? I could not find on line any color charts for 04 or 05 and an 05 parked next to mine looks almost identical? jim
cubby558 08-01-2007, 06:22 AM Jim,
Do you have the original window sticker? It will be listed on there. What year is your XLR? Mine is an '04 and is listed as Crimson Pearl.
Cubby558
rufcar 08-01-2007, 06:28 AM I am not sure about the sticker, Ill need to recheck it if I have it and yes its an 04 but next to an 05 they are slightly different? Either different color , different name or different paint batch. jim
rufcar 08-01-2007, 07:56 AM Hans, Thanks Though I Do Like The Name Magnetic Red Better! Check Out The Caliper Pic's On The Caliper Thread. Jim
rufcar 08-01-2007, 09:40 AM Hans you guys are tying to make me feel bad! Maybe ill just bring the 470hp 205mph 3100lb RUF and put an XLR plate on it, so I wont feel inferior to all the V"s that 'll be there!! jim

I owned both an 04 and an 06. The color in 2004/2005 was called Crimson Pearl. The color changed in 2006 to Infra red. When I traded my Crimson Pear for the new infra red there was not a great difference in color and I had to park them side by side at the dealer to see the difference in color.

No- I win for the the most "stock" car ..... all I ever wanted was the original XLR ... found it ... loved it ..... and now all of you guys are making my husband crazy with all the modifications you have done!! I keep telling him to go play with the Benz .... and, well, let's just say that I think I am slowly losing this whole argument! Next year "Lola" will GET a whole new wardrobe, I'm sure! Well, I am sort of lying. I keep seeing the rims you all have .... and they are beautiful and really dress the car .... I like the grills too.

You won't be sorry for doing any of the mods shown or mentioned. I think Cadillac missed the boat on some things--like chrome wheels, they look great on any color car. I especially like the mesh grilles. Let Lola's Dad have some fun!!
Cubby558:cool
rufcar 08-01-2007, 12:43 PM Since we are back on mods! Will the new "V" lower full stock mesh grill fit an o4 regular xlr? so we can eliminate the 2 ugly black plastic covers? jim

you will loose use of your ACC if you do that:nono
rufcar 08-01-2007, 01:50 PM 1x, I have heard that but, why, is the question? There is already a similar grill there now and covered with the smoked plastic?
1_XLR 08-01-2007, 02:17 PM 1x, I have heard that but, why, is the question? There is already a similar grill there now and covered with the smoked plastic?
there is only the smoked lens on the ends, no grill and plastic vs. metalic
cubby558 08-01-2007, 02:23 PM there is only the smoked lens on the ends, no grill and plastic vs. metalic
Jim,
I think what he is trying to tell you by putting metal where the ACC sensor is located affects the operation of the ACC. That's why it is plastic. The V models with the mesh grilles do not have ACC just regular Cruise Control.
Cubby558:cool
rufcar 08-01-2007, 02:40 PM Thanks cubby and X, Ya metal does not go well with radar. WE all tried that in our on microwaves at some time in our lives! jim

I know, I know.... and if you saw the "to do" list on Lola ... oh, my! This is the first "my" car I've ever had .... but, since he is the primary caretaker ..... it's slowly becoming "our" car .... and since he is driving virtually all of the BG run .... i have a feeling it may soon become "his" car.... nobody can resist falling in love with the XLR .....
rufcar 08-01-2007, 05:27 PM Ruthie baby, Theres always room for OUR cars isn't there. The prices of a little higher milage 04 are in the lower 30's so you guys can have 2! See how easy that is. Lola is yours the OTHER one will be HIS! Good luck with that! jim

No, Jim, in San Diego there is no such price for that car .... still in the way upper 50's .... it would have to be absolute junk to be that price. Everything here is $$$$. Bob will tell confirm that ... And, besides, Ray has 2 other cars and that is enough!! Moderation, must do things in moderation! But we do have the cutest little golf cart ever!http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x260/ruthannspix/golfcart.jpg
jeanszoo 08-01-2007, 06:54 PM I've never put anything metal in a microwave, at least I don't think I have. :glol :glol
Ruth, I told you I'd sell you mine, but then again maybe not! Who says we have to do things in moderation????????????????? It may be a cute golf cart, but it's a ford!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rufcar 08-01-2007, 08:37 PM Ruth, you could buy an xlr in PA save 10-15K pay 1500 to ship to CA and save a bundle! Nice cart too bad its a ford!
Lola's mom 08-01-2007, 09:06 PM Ruth, you could buy an xlr in PA save 10-15K pay 1500 to ship to CA and save a bundle! Nice cart too bad its a ford!
Ahhh, be nice .... Mustang's can be very cool! I am surprised that the car sells so inexpensively in PA ... then there are a lot of them around back there?
rufcar 08-02-2007, 03:00 AM Ruth, Just use any of the online car shoppers. You can specify how far out you want to search Local, state nationwide. Thats how I found mine. Remember too the largest aution in the world is Manheim Pa were every sale day once a week they move over 10-15,000 cars or more. There is also about 20 on ebay every day. I use that to shop prices. My red Porsche RS I showed earlier on this thread I found there and purchased after the sale sight unseen from a guy in Malabu CA Ck it out! Jim
Lola's mom 08-02-2007, 05:47 PM Thank you, Jim. Good information for the future ... but not now ... I have Lola, he has HIS MB, HIS truck, and HIS golf cart ..... no more!! There are other things a girls gotta have .... I give up ..... !!!
rufcar 08-02-2007, 07:49 PM Ruth, I know! Ill stop now. Have fun with your toys! jim

Being from Tennessee and living in Alabama, I'm fluent in Kentuckian and would be glad to translate for you during your visit to BG. Heck, I'll have Hans speaking like a native before the Rendezvous is over. Californians and other foreigners are always welcome.
