Hi, this is my first post--thought I'd give you guys a little run-down. 10/05 leased a black XLR. July 07 sold my lease to a friend, traveled (flew) to Minnesota from my home in Florida to pick up and drive back an 06 "v". 1,800 miles $67,000. Same color, but a very different ride!!! It, of course, has the engine oil leak--off to the local dealer Monday, where I originally leased my XLR. They'll think I'm a nut for wanting to go through all the various problems I had with the XLR. I can't help it--I LOVE THE CAR!!!!

I owned 5 Vettes before getting the XLR.

Only two things disappointed me, that "velcro" that replaced the "real" leather seats, and worse--no adaptive cruise!!! I'll really miss that!!!

I'm confused as to the velcro. Do you mean the suede inserts in the seats? This is a total leather cabin, including the suede, doors, seats, dash, headrests.............every thing.

Ha! I know, I just refer to it as velcro because once your heine touches it, that's where it stays--unless you kinda lift yourself up a bit to settle in better if you "missed the spot" when you dropped in. My wife had an Olds years ago--didn't like it then--not crazy about it now.

The only trouble I have with the suede is it looks dirty because of the way the nap goes in different directions. I may have cocoa brown suede inserts in the seats and on the doors and a V badge done in multi-colors on the headrests by the time I get to BG.Ha! Your idea is very valid. I talked to a custom upholstery guy yesterday and first thing he talked me out of was cocoa brown. He told me he would put black inserts to match up with all the other black in the cabin. We then talked about the fact that suede is not real leather, so if I did it, I would do it in perforated leather like you suggested. Cost for the suede was $1,250 and the V badge on the headrest would have to be done at another shop at more expense. I'm thinking he would want $1,500 for leather inserts and door inserts.
I'm having a tough time with this one because I don't want to junk up my car.

Yeah I tend to go along with the custom guy. I think regular leather will not only look much better but also look better longer. Wonder why they decided to use suede instead of sticking with the XLR-type leather?

Still bugs me that they dropped the cruise too! Why do you receive less for more???

Because there are dummies like me that will go for it when they add 123 more horses. Now that I'm back to regular cruise control. I'm OK with it.
