: XLR-V vs. Jaguar XKR
Pegasus 06-29-2007, 05:49 AM The August issue of Road & Track has a special feature article entitled "8 Hot Coupes Face Off:". One of these is the XLR-V vs. the new Jaguar XKR. In general, they like the V's performance but the XKR has a more posh interior. That's so those Brits can drive bare-butt and get a real thrill.

Hi Pegasus,
I`ll get the Aug. Road & Track around the 20 th of Aug. here in Germany. Can you please tell me the 0-60 and 0-100 mph numbers of the V and the XKR?
Hans
ebferro 06-29-2007, 10:11 AM Gee, seems like the interior complaint has been pretty universal in the automotive press. Personally, I really like mine. I wonder if GM plans on doing anything to address those comments in the future.

ebferro, I like mine too but if I`m true they could have done it better, especially when they take "BVLGARI" for design.

Pegasus 06-29-2007, 03:04 PM Hans:
The numbers are as follows:
0-60mph XLR - 4.3 sec. XKR - 4.4 sec.
0-100mph XLR - 10.2 sec. XKR - 10.5 sec.
1/4 mile XLR - 12.7 sec. @112.3 mph XKR - 12.9 sec. @ 110.4 mph
The XLR is, of course, a V.

standby 06-29-2007, 05:43 PM Well Hans, I've been trying to tell everyone all along that it's a 4.3 rocket. Now I don't have to go to the track to prove it.

Chuck, thank you for the info:thumbs

caddiedrummer 06-30-2007, 06:29 AM Oddly enough the guy that parks next to me in my deck has an XKR. I t is a really nice looking car especially from the rear.
I drive him nuts when I follow him in in the morning and turn on my mild to wild exhaust--other days I leave it off. "How come your car sounds like a a hot rod sometimes?" I tell him I am just turning the charger on and off.

Hi Caddiedrummer:lol
that`s why Bob is calling his V a "Gorilla in a Tuxedo":lol

XLR I FL 07-05-2007, 10:59 AM Well I'm happy that FORD can make something to run with the XLR.
caddiedrummer 07-07-2007, 01:55 PM Don't put your Caddy up against a Ford GT--I tried (and my Viper)
standby 07-07-2007, 06:42 PM I'm assuming that your Caddy is an XLR-V? Your Viper got wasted too?
bob

caddiedrummer 07-07-2007, 08:26 PM yeah but the guy in the GT is a Nextel Cup driver so he could have been in my wife's minivan
standby 07-07-2007, 08:51 PM Sorry, but I don't let Vipers beat me. I'm an X drag strip nut and never been higher than .010 of the line. If you can get them there, they get rattled.
bob

caddiedrummer 07-08-2007, 08:15 AM Standby , assuming your V is stock, with all due respect , unless the guy in the Viper is really poor there ain't a snowballs chance in hell someone will beat hiim in a V. I have dragged both . Both my Vipers (Gen 1 and 2) leave the V in the dust. No knock on the V (I love mine) It is just reality.
standby 07-08-2007, 11:57 AM Not bragging here, but I gave him 4 shots at 4 lights and should have been racing for titles, I would have 4 titles. Granted everyone doesn't handle a race car off the line like everyone else, maybe I ran into one of those and a small engine Viper? However it sure looked bad.
Mine is stock but I do have the ram air with the Volant cones, and you know how the supercharger loves air. I also have my switch for the baffles open wide which lets me get rid of a lot of exhaust.

XLR I FL 07-09-2007, 01:25 PM I agree about "Hole Shotting" a GT. Standby and I had this very debate after a friend of mine go one of the cobra Mustangs. It's fast but the suspension and the super wide throw on the 6 speed are impediments in my assesment. The thing squats and burns off the line.
Having said that I do agree that a visit to D3 might help out. I am just not sure I want to do that to my car though.
Regards

:iagree
As much as I love my V......you can't touch a viper unless the guy is outside pushing!
standby 07-09-2007, 06:05 PM OK, it's a big fat lie and I make stories up to make my self feel good. Hope your happy.:iagree

More of an automatic versus stick thing I would think. Just because someone can afford a Viper doesn't mean they know how to drive it properly.
harrysxlr 07-19-2007, 03:33 AM Just received the Aug. Road&Track yesterday and was looking first for the test of the XLR V against Jag XKR.
I think the clock of test driver Calvin Kim goes the wrong way when he says you can go in an XKR for a long drive with luggage over highways and twisty roads with lot of comfort but you can`t do this in an V. I cannot understand this sentence because I`ve been a couple times with my wife for one to two weeks on some short vacations and my XLR is a perfect car for such things, plus I can lower my top with a push of a button.
The luggage space with my top up is for a sports car great (2 reglar size suit case fits right side by side plus two handbags on the back of the suit cases)
Here`s some interesting numbers
cargo volume trunk XKR 10,6 cu.ft - XLR V 11,6 cu.ft
the XLR V outfperforms the XKR in any meassures
conclusion:is Calvin Kim a serious test-driver - NO NO NO

Kahuna 07-19-2007, 09:40 PM It almost seems like there is a conspiracy against the XLR by the car mags, but I think it may be that they don't know where it fits. I describe the XLR as a car that handles like a Vette and rides like a Cadillac. It is NOT a racecar or a Corvette and it certainly is not for everyone. But if you understand and like what it is, there is nothing else this side of $100,000 that comes close! ... AND you will not pass yourself on the highway everytime you go for a drive.
Lola's mom 07-19-2007, 11:44 PM :cheers Amen.
