Scanning the other threads, I saw Heated and Cooled cup holders, bluetooth, Ipod integration, and maybe a few others. Here are my thoughts on what to add.

First of all the integration of On-Star and Nav system. If I can't find a place I should be able to push On-Star for directions and they should be able to 'push' the destination to my nav system and have it give me directions. This 'turn by turn' thing is a medocre attempt.

Second, I did the Analog to Digital Update and my phone number changed to a recycled number and I was getting calls for people calling into radio stations. So I am trying to listen to my music and every other minute I have to stop and let my phone ring 6 times, listen to a little music and it rings again. I have not given out my number so obviously I don't know these people. So - after the rant - Integrate caller ID into the car somehow - either on the DIC where it displays a number to dial for ease of confirmation - or into the touch screen Nav system, or the Heads Up Display. Additionally, Integrate standard cell phone features into the Nav system (Address book, contacts, a place to dial a number, etc) I understand the safety of 'Hands free calling' but make it a little more user friendly.

I think that is enough for a start and I will add more as it comes to me. Please feel free to do the same.

From the ACC line it would be nice to select between ACC and STD with the cruise control.

As I looked in the 07 manual it seem they have integrated the 'bumper key' into the fob. That is a great idea. Maybe I could upgrade fob's to have the key built in on my '05.

The manual shows it as intergrated, but they are still sperate on the 07, I believe starting with the 08 that will be integrated.

I would not want the key integrated.....I like going keyless!
But I do wish I had ACC on my V....I miss it!

What we mean is the key is integrated into the fob, rather then having the key seperate from the fob. Basicly there is a button on the back or bottom of the fob and a key slides out of the bottom of the fob. I know on the Nissan fobs the key part connects to the key chain so you can take off the fob part for valet parking.

understand, but that just makes the FOB that much larger

My key is currently hanging in the house because I don't want to carry it around since I don't have to use it on a regular basis. Unfortuantely when the time comes that I need it - I almost never have it to hand. For me, if it were built into the FOB it would always be there (and yet never be there - as in seen or in the way.) Sure it might make the fob a little larger, and I do like the looks of my FOB compared to the picture of the FOB in the manual but the convienence is what I was going for.

I don't think the fob is that much larger, if you download the 07 manual you can see pictures of it.
https://www.mygmlink.com/pdf/go2cont...ac/2007xlr.pdf

On page 68 is the picture of the fob, and on page 72 you can see where they have the key pulled out a bit. From the publications I have seen it looks like that is going to be the fob style for the 08.

My key is on a zip tie strap and attached to a hole on the frame. You can also use a magnet box, but metal is hard to find and I worry about it falling off if underneath.

Looks like I need to relocate my key. That's a great idea. Thanks.

you should use a plastic sleeve before you tape it down if you're having a sticky problem

The problem with selecting between ACC and STD cruise control is that the driver may think he has ACC on but he is in standard cruise. So the vehicle will not slow down as he expected. You can see lawsuits coming with this feature. I don't think car manufacturers want to risk this.

1) I'd give up the DVD MOVIE function for MP3 capability.

2) Raise the XM band volume so your speakers and ears aren't damaged when you switch to CD or FM.

3) Give us the same HEADS UP DISPLAY information you get with the Corvette C6.

Because we don't have the function for I-pods or MP3 players, I have loaded everything I have on my I-pod onto CD's and loaded up my changer with them. it amounts to the same thing.
There are connecters out there that will give you a plug for your Radio but they have to tear into the radio to adapt it...............Not my dash board!

I would like the HUD unit from the Vette, gotta love that G meter. Bluetooth functionality and an IPod interface would also be nice. The power side bolsters from the Vette also please.

Dear Santa GM, I would like warm/cold cup holders like my big brother the Escalade and multi colored interiors like my little brother the Vette...............See, that's not so hard to do.

I definitely would vote for Bluetooth functionality, a top mechanism that works 100% of the time, and while I am at it, how about front/rear cameras so I can stop ruining those cement parking curbs.

My wish list;

- ACC on the V.
- On the fly access to the nav system to change/update/enter a destination without stopping.
- Remote start.
- Pass thru to the trunk space.
- DVD when driving (for the passenger only...of course)

Is someone (maybe Ben since he started the thread) going to make a list of all of the suggestions to take with us to BG, so we when talking the engineers we can present the ideas to them. It can't hurt to ask and I would think they would appreciate the feed back from owners.

If everyone would would post their ideas in this thread of what they would like to see in the future or maybe as a add on, I will cut and past all ideas into one letter, make copies and for everyone and then we can hand one to each executive that we talk too.

Let's be very careful here, please. We believe the intent is good but the approach being suggested verges on confrontational and, frankly, smacks of some sort of collective bargaining tactic. The Cadillac executives don't need harassing. Low key, constructive, friendly interchange on an individual basis would be much more likely to achieve the desired results and at the same time keep Cadillac supportive of activities such as the Rendezvous at Bowling Green. They are, after all, the hosts and should be treated and respected as such.

Very sincerely,
Ed and Sandra

After contemplating this matter a bit more, we would like to put forth an approach which we believe would be constructive, positive, likely well received and therefore effective at accomplishing what’s desired. It would be fine to have people post here their ideas for new and modified features which could, if worded properly, also include identification of problems which need fixing. For example, a statement along the lines of “Make the top lowering and raising mechanism even more reliable” certainly addresses a real world issue in a nice, constructive way.

We recommend one person edit the list of suggestions so they are consistently well communicated, cohesive, articulate and, of course, grammatically correct in addition to being presented in a nice, professional format. If no one else wants the job, we will volunteer to undertake the effort and publish it here for review prior to the Rendezvous. In addition to being able to incorporate further suggestions, it would give attendees the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the content and, if they chose to do so, discuss matters of interest with the appropriate parties from Cadillac if the opportunity presented itself.

Another key, very key, ingredient of our proposal is that only one person provide the final list to the Cadillac executives one-on-one and be charged with doing so in a polite, professional manner. An approach would be for this person to indicate that the forum members are tremendously appreciative of support from Cadillac and as ardent devotees of the XLR wanted to share thoughts which might make it even more desirable and successful. We think everyone gets our “drift” as far as what’s needed in that respect.

Lastly, we have a specific recommendation of the person who should be given the responsibility for presenting the list. That would be “jamsto.” He is already known to the Bowling Green folk for his Rendezvous organization efforts and he strikes us as someone who is level headed and quite capable of undertaking the responsibility in a most professional manner. What must be avoided is anyone having this responsibility who might be perceived as hot headed and/or has an axe to grind and might be tempted to use the appointment as a “bully pulpit.”

We will be interested in hearing the thoughts of others with respect to this matter.

Best regards,
Ed and Sandra

IMO..........
anyone willing to make such a trip should expect fair opportunity to respectfully voice their personal opinions
and GM should be willing to accept more than just a whitewashed list from some of their most devoted advocates.
I just don't think that "making the top more reliable" is very constructive input, nor should they be beat over the head with individual problems. More importantly, ho wdo these issues effect the individual owners. Personalize it.....what happens when the top gets stuck in front of a restaruant........why do we need Ipod connect and bluetooth ........I just think individual stories could be more useful.

that being said, you guys might want to keep an eye on bob;)

I agree with XRLcited. I'm so afraid of hitting something because visibility is so limited. We already have the viewing screen. This would be a great asset to the functionality of the car. Also Michael is right on. While not all of us might not be so articulate as Ed or Sandra, not sure who is typing? Maybe you-all take turns. I don't think anyone wants to "bully" Cadillac officials.
