Any suggestions? Who is up for it?

I wouldn't mind helping out, I post on this site, the Wine forum as well as the Corvette forum. I get alot out of it, so I wouldn't mind giving back a bit.

If anyone objects, it won't hurt my feelings.

I, of all people wouldn't mind, I just wish you would change that Avatar of Darth Vader to a pussy cat or a pretty girl. Guess Troy got the message

I'd be willing to help out in any way that I could if no one has any objections.

Wish I could help ... I'm just a newbie and family health concerns severely limit my time. THANX to those who have volunteered ... I appreciate your help to keep this forum running.

I wouldn't mind doing it, although I don't spend a great deal of time here. I do generally check in at least once a day though.

btw I'm also Deluxe on CF.

I have setup mswaim, xlr i fl, and caly as our first moderators!

I have also setup a system where all new registrations are automatically approved but their posts are moderated until we know they are real people and not spam bots. When a moderator approves the first post they automatically get the ability to make posts in the future.

Keep me in mind if I can help out in any way. I see you hail from Sarasota, FL. My wife is from Venice. Nice area around there. Good for Corvettes and XLRs.

Definitely a good location for XLRs and Corvettes. It's been excellent top down temps lately. :cheers

The temp gauge read 19 degrees this morning as I drove through my complex her in central California. I chose to keep the top on the car..........................

I guess when Troy added the Moderator title, it removed my avatar. Looks like I will have to go avatar shopping. We have been doing quite a bit of boat shopping lately, perhaps a nice trawler. :cheers

I am guessing that we are still having trouble getting new members signed up. I spoke with a local xlr owner last week who has not been able to activate his membership. I know this took over a month and a post like I am writing to get my membership activated.

For the number of people who are shown on the site looking at the posts we have an extremely small number of people posting, this seems unusual to me so I thought I would ask that the membership process be looked at again...

I don't know for sure, but I think the way it works is that after you register you have to make some post that becomes "moderated"; it can only be seen by the mods. This allows a live person to look at the post and decide if it looks like a sincere member who wants to participate, or a robot post or some other debris that kills other forums.

It might make sense to include a little more information on the registration page; maybe advice to post a "something about me" on a "Welcome" thread or something. It then becomes much easier for the mods to approve, and the new member isn't sitting around wondering what happens next.

Just my $.02 and I don't even know if it is reletive to the problem, but I suspect some new members, if they post at all may be doing something like "test post" and expecting that to work for us.
