Has anyone put the Lund exhaust tip on there car?
I would like to get some more photos of it "I have the one off there web site" and if possible some measurements of it.
I would like to add the Cadillac &/or XLR emblems to it. I would put the emblems right in the middle with a Chrome, Black, or Gold back ground. What ever would make them stand out better.
Someone has made a plate that goes in between the stock tips but you can not see it very well unless you bend down and look under the car. I want to put the emblems right out at the end of this tip.
If anyone could help me out I would appreciate it. I can make it from scratch myself but this would just speed it up some.
I hope to be able to make/sell these for a lot less then the $1200.00 they want for there's.
If anyone thinks they might like one of mine please let me know also.
You can post here or email me at bvezie@eastex.net

Thanks
Blaise

Blaise,

I sent you some photo's and will take some mesurements tomorrow. I'm pretty sure Chip Foose designed this for them so I would put some thought into copying it and then trying to sell them. That price is negotiable, I had a full system installed for not much more than that. My service writer is Blake at 602-375-4355. He can probably cut you a deal.

Kent,
Be careful, there could be copy rights on that item. BobBlaise,

That's what I am thinking and now that I have looked closely at how complex the construction is inside the tip I don't think it would be easy to reproduce anyway.

Kent,

I talked to the guy at Lund a few times this week and he made me a nice offer on making me the tip the way I want BUT he says that the tip gets very HOT.
He is not sure if the glue on the back of the emblems will stick very well after you run the car for a while.

Kent have you ever touched the exhaust tip after running your car?
Was it very HOT?
Do you think the glue strips would still stick?
I may rethink the whole thing and just get there stock tip.

By the way the Lund tip is made of Stainless Steel and is High Polished.

Thanks
Blaise

Blaise, If you were thinking of a 3M type adhesive then I would say it is too hot. A tack weld or soldering would work.

Kent,

Yes I was thinking of the 3M tape. I think it would be hard to find the Cadillac emblem made with something that could be welded and NOT damaged at the same time.
Oh well the stock Lund tip looks great so I guess I will go that way.:thumbs

Thanks for all the photos you took. :seeya
I guess I should have ask you about the heat first.:eek
I was thinking if the tip had the dead air space in the middle it would not get that hot. But then I did not think the tip got that hot to begin with.:nodno

As they say: Thats what you get for thinking!!!:jester
