I am sure each one of us(including myself) thinks we are actually younger than we are....this is good! :yesnod

The other day I was describing to my son, (Frederic the Younger @29) a car that my neighbor had and I used the term "she's a duesy". My son looked at me and said "WHAT?". After explaining what that meant, reality hit. Sheesh, am I really getting old? Nah! The youngster is just not as well read as I. :lol

Redv is 65 this month. I bought myself the most beautiful 1923 T Bucket you ever saw to celebrate. A 350 ford engine with high rise 4 barel carbs and a bunch of chrome. I tried to sneak the new boy out today. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure my XLR saw me taking the 'new boy' for a introductory spin. I hope the beautiful beast is not planning any reprisals; she should know she is still my favorite :nono .

Most of the parts seem to come from domestic suppliers (except tramsmissions from some years- my 04 is foreign, I think). The issue is that there isn't that many of them (parts, that is). It takes most of us (I believe) quite a while to get anything for our XLR's. The supply chain is S-L-O-W. It took my dealer WEEKS to get an engine pulley.

The 4.6 Northstar is assembled in Lavonia, MI.

The 4.4 SC Northstar is assembled in Wixom, MI

The 5 speed transmission is assembled in Strasbourg, France

The 6 speed transmission is assembled in Ypsilanti, MI

The steering Column-SIR system comes from Saginaw, MI

ECM comes from Delco Electronics in Milwaukee, WI

SDM comes from Delco Electronics in Kokomo, IN

This is just a few of the parts used on an XLR,

Cadyhawk,

Unfortunately our 04 has been in the shop at least once a month if not more since we have owned it, Nov 06.
Thankfully everything is under warranty, however my time and fuel is not. :)
Mostly issues with: Breaks squealing, ECM, Rear view mirror on passenger side had to be replaced, Grinding in the rear end, headlights replaced due to burn through, wheels finish issues.
We have not had that many problems, it just took our dealership several times before they fix each problem. The dealership has taken care of everything for us, they have been very accomodating and kind to us! Mea

I haven't seen a thread on here in a long time with issues about the top. I've had an 04 and and 06-V and have never had a problem with the top. (knock on wood) and if you like being treated like a rock star when you pull up with your XLR, then I think you just might like it.

Bob,
I hadn't posted this before, but when I got my '04 back from that so and so, he had gotten, I think they said about a gallon of water in the module compartment in the trunk. Trust me you don't want that to happen! Not only did the top not work the trunk totally quit as well as they are the same module and it was $1,700 +/- to replace that module. :cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss

Sorry for hijacking this thread.
