I'm not sure how realistic it is to compare a "record" 12.2 or 12.4 vette time, to a fresh 12.7 V time. How many thousands of passes with various drivers have vets made compared to the handful of V's tyhat may have been to a strip. At this stage of the game ....that's damm close enough for me!

One thing to keep in mind is the most important number posted by the V is its 60 foot time (1.9 sec). That almost ALWAYS makes the difference in a drag race, whether it be a heads-up or a simple pass for time. One or two tenths lost in the 60 foot times will not be made up on the other end, so the V that is being posted here is well represented, 60 foot time speaking. Bottom line is that is a very good time so I don't see a reason to think they will not get much better in the hands of a seasoned driver with an engine that has some miles on it.

The V times should improve, while the vette time posted is probably as good as it will get. That's a pretty narrow gap to close.

Regardless, the V does it with a convertable hard top, etc., we need to remember what we're paying for.

Track conditions play a big part also, as does altitude. These two raceways are close, but not even. One is at 480 feet, the other is at nearly sea level - not even, but close enough for govt work.

I'm assuming the V was rolling on street tires, that's even more amazing. Not a bad time at all, considering its weight, power and creature comforts. Throw some slicks on it and a top driver and low 12's just could be around the corner.

I've hit mine pretty good and was very impressed. Had a dressed up Hemi try me today, it felt like I was strapped to a jet sled. The front end comes up, using a lot of HP to raise it, but it stays up an descends very slow, until second gear hits and it goes up again. I felt bad for the Hemi (Right)
