That is $4,000 over invoice. I think a few Cadillac dealers are a little nervous having something with a $100K sticker in inventory. Massey is a big dealer group though, I would expect them to try for a bit more.

I agree but you would think if they didn't want one they would of let another dealer have it where they are in stronger demand.

I would be very careful of Massy. I willing to bet there is some catch. I wrote extentively on this site two years ago when buying my 04 XLR how they lied repeately to me. To make a long story short. Back then I won the bid for the XLR, called them, sent 10K deposit and told them I would be there in 5 days to pick it up (as I live in Cincinnnati and they were in Texas). Everything was fine til I showed up. They sold the car to someone else (while holding my deposit) who offered more AFTER I had already won the bidding. I immediately got my lawyers involved. I demanded my money back on the spot plus my airfare. They told me they would have to mail me a check. Long story short, It took 3 months and a lawsuit to get the money. They wanted me to wait for another car.

Rick,
That's almost like bait and switch. I hope you nailed them for more than airfare. Your right, any dealer would take that car off their hands for a lot more than 91k.

I would not be surprised if they tried to add the gas guzzler tax on top of the Ebay sale price.

OKay,

Here is the deal. As of this writing I am the only bidder on the car with No Reserve. My local dealer repeatly said something must be wrong because GM called him asking for his allotment back for another customer. So, My dealer called Massy and offered him 95K for the car. The sales person listing the car said there was NO WAY he would take less than 102K. My dealer reminded him that it was a no reserve acution. He said he did not care, and would not let the car go. He cliamed that he would personally bid on the car to drive the price up. So, I called him. I reminded him of the encounter 2 years ago. He said that he was not playing games. I then offered to send my deposit immediately so that he had it. He refused to give me his address. The auction closes at 9:00 EST tonight. My attorney is currently drafting a letter stating that we are going to watch this for fraud and they better be on the up & up. This could get very interesting very soon.

Having sold many cars on ebay and over 1,000 transactions let me offer this advice. First if he attempts to bid up his own item, it is a violation of Ebay policy and will be suspend imediately. You need to alert Ebay of this if it happens. If you suspect it they have ways of investigating it. I know I've seen it happen to others. Second he can just cancell the auction at anytime and its over. He just pays Ebay the listing fees and that is the end of it. Even if there are bids on it he can cancell it. He may not be able to do it in the final 12 hours, I'm not clear on the Ebay policy on that. The only way he can get out of this legally (Ebay rules) now is to end the auction (only if the 12 hour rule doesn't apply). If he bids on it or you are the high bidder and he does not honor it he's got a problem. Let us know how it proceeds.

I have already alerted ebay, but honestly I don't they care. It took 20 minutes just to fine someone to take the complaint. They don't care until after the fact and I doubt they care then. I have had my attorney already sent them a letter. I guess we will find out in a couple of hours. BY THE WAY, I just took delivery of my V here in Cincinnati. So, If any of you guys want one, I might have one for sale. My dealer has already told me he would give me 95K to take my place.

Do not give them a loophole send them the 500 deposit as it states with in 24 hours. I wouls do it via paypal if you can to have documented proof of the deposit. They are going to look for a loop hole to get out of this. You can call them by phone but there is no proof of conversations at the vary least I would send the information to themthrough ebayin writting to back up the call.

If you love E-bay, why don't you put it up for sale on e-bay instead of putting it in the wrong catagory on this site. We have a catorgory for putting items up for sale.

I sold it tonight. By the way, they tell me they have more than 1. I put it in this forum so that anyone following the threads would know about it.

I'm glad you made a few bucks, but the point was, there is a for sale section on this site and we usually try to stick to the rules of this site, plus your ad will be seen better in that area.

How come we haven't heard anymore about the V you won on E-bay? Did you got to Massey to pick it up or did you sell it and the new owner is picking it up. I'm dying to hear about the face to face at Massey, aren't you guys?

So then to recap; A brand new XLR V was sold on Ebay for a hair over 91K. I hope this was a fluke and not a sign of things to come for all the V owners.
Well Bob if this trend continues I might have one of these fine cars yet. Heck I hope for all your sake and Caddy's that this was a fluke. If not a left over V might be bought in Jan. 07 at a deep discount. Naw, probably not.

I honestly think that someone made a mistake at the dealership. This is the same group that 2 years ago could not deliver the XLR that I bought from them and put a deposit on only to find out they had sold the car to someone else when I arrived at the dealership. So, this time I have my attorneys send a letter, I alerted ebay, etc. There General Manager told my dealer here that there was "absolutely no way" they would let it go less than 100K. In the end I think they got there hand caught in the cookie jar.

I totally agree with you Rick. I think someone was suppose to bid at the last second and forgot to. Somebody's butt might be looking for a job this week. These V's are selling over premium out here in LA LA land, but what the hell, it's only money.

Not to rub salt in anyone's wound but here is another that will sell for $95,000! That's 5 grand under. Second one in a week. I guess if I were in the market I would not want to pay over this amount since the last one sold at 91K. Can't wait to see where they are in December.

I knew the 100k wouldn't last, but I didn't expect the bottom to fall out this quick.
If it continues, it will also put downward pressure on the XLR

There are only 2 XLR-Vs for sale in the whole state of Mass. and both dealers are asking MSRP. A friend of mine talked to someone in Naples, FL that recently paid $7k over MSRP for his. I think demand will continue to build for this car as people get a good look, and realize the car's potential. Keep in mind, the market for six figure automobiles is not that large, and pricing will never hold up if the car is overproduced. Hopefully, GM is keeping a close eye on this.

Geeze it is a bummer to see that such a great car is falling in price so fast.

The guy in the office next to me in our complex in NJ just paid 95k for a new XLR-V.

It is a sharp looking car, but I was hoping for a little more power from the supercharged engine. Is there a chance the XLR could receive the engine from the Z06 Corvette?

I don't think GM wants it to be as fast as the Z06, or to be a corvette with a different shell
