I will put the three piece Foose rims on and put the new rims (zero miles) in the Foose boxes to ship to you or you ship in June when you get here. Price is the only question left. We will work it out. Why don't you just order the V hood now, then you will look like Bob, but a little darker color. BTW, I like the color, Thunder Grey. It would have been my second choice for my 04. People, please don't take offense. I bought mine off the dealers XLR when I bought my 04 and he let me have tires and rims for 4K, while they would have been 6K new. I would say $1500 to $2k would be a fair price, but that's just a guess, maybe someone on here would venture a guess. As far as run flats on the speedster 20"= NO I had to go with normal tires with the speedsters and that's why I'm not going to 20's on the V. Blaise Hi Blaise, the STS V has the 6 lug nuts - the XLR V has the 5 lug nuts!!!! Take a look at ebay.com, there is an 04 XLR (used) with the wheels of the V (originals) even with the Pirelli eufori tires. They say the owner of this 04 got his V and put aftermaket tires on the new one - that`s why he changed his 04 with the V wheels.----------------looks good------------------- Have a nice day Harry Jetboyphx 02-23-2006, 09:37 PM Harry, I got to drive that particular XLR last Satruday when I was at Lund shopping for an exhaust. The pinstrips on that car look better in person, I'm still debating putting some on mine not sure what color would accent the Blue Steel best. The Baer brakes also look great with the painted calipers. The smoked lenses look good but I don't know if they are worth $700. Jetboyphx 02-24-2006, 06:48 PM Harry, I will check on the wheels for you. When I drove the car it had the aftermarket wheels. I also prefer the look of the V wheels. I like those E&G grills and may break down on get one. From your write up it sounded like the instal was a little tricky so I have a mechanic I use for all my motorcycles that is opening his own shop in a month and will probably let him do any more work on the car as well, he will need the business for the first few weeks while he get's his shop going. I was thinking of a stripe in a silver/gray to match the brushed wheels and think that would look great in bright sunlight but the blue steel gets darker in cloudy weather, dusk and nighttime and then I was thinking a deeper blue might look good. I might buy some cheap tape stripes at the auto parts store so I can play with some colors and see what grabs me and then get the actual painted stripes. I'm considering the Rendevous but have been holding off until I get a feeling for how many are going. Jetboyphx 02-24-2006, 07:07 PM 1 XLR, keeping in mind what sounds best is pretty individual I'll try to give my opinion. The Lund had the deepest tone and was similar to the Corsa in decibals at idle but did not get as loud when up in the rpms. Lund seemed to do a better job of pulling the V-8 note I wanted from the motor. Corsa was second deepest and good at idle and not too bad at higher rpms. I had just sold my GTO and the Northstar just doesn't have that same V-8 sound and the Corsa didn't get to what I wanted. If I hadn't heard the Lund I would have gone with the Corsa. The Borla's I like on Vettes but it just did not seem to translate the Northstar motor sound the way I wanted. I would be afraid of highway drone with the Borla's. Not as deep as the Corsa and a bit louder. They said since they fabricate each one it would take at least a day to install and they would most likley have to keep it overnight. It ended up 3 days, the service manager didn't like the fit the first time they said it was ready. If you are thinking of going with the Lund I suggest you have a good muffler guy do the install. 1_XLR 02-24-2006, 10:10 PM Thanks Jetboy, I actually have the original prototype that the Borla factory made for my 04 XLR, I didn't think they ever made anymore specifically for XLRs. The tone on mine is much deeper and somewhat louder than the Corsa and very minimal highway drone. As you mentioned, it's a personal thing, and I love the sound, and only hope they sound as good when I put them on my V. I've never heard the Lund, and I don't care for the Corsa sound Jetboyphx 02-25-2006, 09:17 AM Interesting, the the Borla I heard must have been a fabrication as well. That could be why the sound seemed a bit off as I generally prefer Borla's on Vette's Jetboyphx 02-27-2006, 09:48 PM Hi Jetboyphx, oh I see, you must live somewhere near Lund-Cadillac. No adjustments needed. I'm wondering what they do to the ride quality. Hi Kent, that sounds easy, just bolted on. I think I´ll get this set while I´m in the US in june and have it shipped over. I think the ride quality doesn`t make much difference to the stock 235/50 18 wheels - the look of the car gets much nicer. Another chance would be to upgrade the stock rims with 255/45 18 tires all around. That`s the front size tires of the new STS V and they are run flats. Pirelli euforis. Pictures soon..... harrysxlr 03-24-2006, 03:48 AM Thats the price I was going to sell mine for, but my three piece rims won't be ready for another two weeks (Grand Prix in Newport Beach.) They look like DUBS "Dirty Dogs". Harry really wants them bad, we just have to figure a way to get them to Germany without costing a mint. Bob Yes, I do Bob but I need the center caps and the TPC valves and the original tires shouldn`t be a problem to get here in Germany. I wished someone could give me a shipping rate for the wheels from the US to Germany. Harry standby 03-24-2006, 10:18 PM Ok, Hans, who do you want me to contact over here and how do you want them shipped? Give me a few to check out to see which is the cheaper way to ship. I'm assuming you don't want to wait for freighter delivery. Let me know ASAP if we have a deal. Bob Bob, I got my Corsa exhaust by "United States Postal Service" it was ground shipping, took about 20 days and that would be fine. The weight was 98 lbs the price was $ 124.00 and this was a fair price I guess. I don`t know the weight of the rims, maybe someone can tell us, maybe 1_XLR. When we get a good price for shipping and the wheels come with the center caps and the TPM valves you can make them ready for shipping. I´ll send you a check and when you have it on your account you do the shipping. Is this OK? Please check out the above postal-service. Harry | |
