: XLR V wheels and tires on XLR
harrysxlr 01-30-2006, 11:42 AM Hi,

On ebay they offer a complete set of brand new XLR V wheels and tires (factory)
for $ 2.999 but I must make shure that they will fit.
Harry Hans

He, maybe we can start an auction for you. My XLR-V is set to arrive in three weeks. I will also be putting 19" Foose speedster wheels on it which I already have. So, you can buy my "v" wheels cheap.

I think it`s getting time for me to think about a new V too. When do you expect your V is coming in?
No one likes the stock V wheels:nono but Harry does:lol
Harry Hans
standby 02-01-2006, 11:07 AM I think that's the best idea you have come up with lately..............Get the V, Hans, then all these late comers will have to go else where to sell there rims. I'll just keep mine to make it stock again some day in the future.
Quite frankly, I just may give my rims to Hans, that will end any auction, reverse or otherwise. :cheers German Drinking song here,................... drink, drink, drink! :cheers

motorboat 02-02-2006, 05:37 PM Harry,
I sent Allen Kulbersh "Mr XLR" an email asking him if he could help me out on these rims. As always he was able to shed so light on this for me. I guess I will have to stop looking for a great deal on those V rims.
Here is what he said:
Blaise,
The 19" V series wheel will physically mount to the hubs of the regular XLR. The issue is that the (MMR) Magnetic ride control would not be calibrated for the bigger wheel, why does this matter, there would be an inadequate spacing for aggressive turns or spirited driving. Thus causing a rubbing of the tire to the fender wells.
Blaise I am sure you have read all the forum reports of the members with 19" or 20" wheels that have that issue.
Take Care
Allen
standby 02-02-2006, 06:32 PM I for one, have Foose twenty's on my 04 and the only time I get a slight rub is when I slam it and it changes to second gear, It sounds like a small dog barking, maybe I'm running over small dogs and don't know it. It has done it many times and there is the slightest rub mark on the top of the wheel well, which tells me it happens when it squats down when I hit second.:sleep :sleep But there is not blood from small dogs, thank goodness.Harry,

Thank you Allen,
most of them who changed their wheels was with 20 inch rims but maybe we get someone here on this forum who put the V rims on his XLR.
1_XLR who had 20`s on his have never had any problems, why should it not being this way with 19`s????
Thanks again
Harry
standby 02-04-2006, 09:30 AM Hans,
The dog barking sound was not the tire hitting but the steel belt grinding on the road surface on my right rear. Had my front tires balanced and they showed me my rear tires. 17,000 miles and they are history. Funny, a local tire store known for good prices wanted $900 and Allen Cadillac only wanted $650. Boy it pays to shop. Bob,
$ 650 for a pair is a good price for this size of tires.
In miles I think I`ll get about 25000 out of my tires(over 40.000 km) but I`ve allways in this range even with my Vette`s I`ve had.
Today in my garage I checked out how to get my stock grille out and it`s no big thing - remove the front cover, what`s over the grille and you see four screws - unscrew these and you can take the whole grille out and that little body colored stripe is attached to the grille. E& G mesh I´m waiting for you.:lol
:iagree you don`t have to do this on your 04 because your V will be here soon;)

standby 02-04-2006, 05:52 PM My daughter has very high mileage on her leased CTS, so when my V comes in I will let her use my XLR until GM decides to settle, boy is she happy about that. since she traded in her 345HP Camero, she hasn't liked being beat by so many cars. So that's why I'm putting the tires on.
Bob http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/36/36_35_8.gif (http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb001_ZS)just keeping in shape and annoying you know who

I have 19" foose speedster wheels. As those of you have read my rants on wheels, you will eventually find out that 19" are the best size with out any problems at all. The other minor problem discribed above can be taken care of with a simple spacer or proper backspacing to begin with. However, anything bigger than 19" causes all sorts of problems. The single biggest is the fact that the car was not crash tested with 20" wheels. The way the car crumples in a crash is drastically effected by the size and strength of the wheels.

Rick, so you think the V wheels (19`s with 235 on front and 255 on back) would fit the stock XLR.

They will. You might need a small back spacer.

Thanks Rick, I think I´ll get me a set, even if I go myself for a V soon.
Doesn`t matter than because I´ll get a better price on mine by trading it in.
