: Burbank Bob's Big Boy Nov. 10 Meet

Now that it's November, I wanted to confirm with everyone for the Thursday, November 10 XLR extravaganza at Bob's Big Boy in Burbank. What is the time we're supposed to be there? Are we eating lunch or just watching everybody who walks by gawk at our cars? Do we need to reserve parking or dining space?

For those of you who will be coming form the West (going East) on 134, the exit is Pass Ave. Turn right, then right again and it's one block East of Pass. I'm not sure about the exit coming from the other direction. Either way, it is one block East of Pass on Riverside.

Thursday I was going to stop by for lunch at 11:30 am and meet up with those who can make it. Friday the 11th is the regular cruise night when everyone comes to Bob's. I was going to get there about 3 pm or so to get a parking spot and most of the people were going to come then.

There has been so little response to this thread that I am wondering if anyone is going to show up on Thursday. If you are going to be there, please speak up. If the get-together turns into a non-event, I'd rather be at the office. We were up to more than 10 cars originally, now it seems we're at 2.

UPDATED: 3:05 pm PST November 8, 2005

LOS ANGELES -- A Pacific storm that may reach the Southland later Tuesday could bring heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hail, waterspouts and strong winds to the region, according to the National Weather Service.

A flash-flood watch will go into effect in burn areas of Los Angeles County at 8 p.m. and run through Wednesday night.

"A strong upper low centered off the coast of Southern California continues to tap into a large area of subtropical moisture that will bring increasing threat of rainfall for Southern and Central California," according to an NWS statement.

The vanguard of the storm is expected to reach Los Angeles County Tuesday evening, but the brunt of the rain is expected to hit overnight, with possible periods of intense rainfall continuing through tomorrow evening, meteorologists said.

Scattered showers likely will continue into Thursday evening, due to the upper low stalling of the Southern California coast.

"This weather system will also bring a threat of thunderstorms, which could produce locally heavy rain and small hail, along with local wind gusts over 50 mph," according to the NWS. "In addition, conditions will be favorable for some rotation with storms overnight and Wednesday, so waterspouts and small tornadoes will be possible."

The NWS statement warns, however, "There is still some uncertainty in the timing and intensity for rainfall with this system, as cutoff low pressure systems can be very erratic."

The storm could bring a half-inch to 1 1/2 inches of rain to coastal and valley areas and up to 4 inches of the wet stuff in south-facing mountain areas. Other mountain areas could get up to 3 inches of rain before the storm moves on.

Funny. I was just about to post that it seems like every news outlet except KNBC4 predicts rain. I suppose when I watch them later, they will have changed their tune.

Does rain cancel the event on Thursday?

There's a button on the center council that you may need to use just in case it rains. Push it for about 30 seconds and you wont get wet. Just funnin! Hope to see you all there.

It was a pleasure meeting everyone yesterday that showed up at Bob's Big Boy. The weather cooperated and I know it was painful for the guys who's had to drive through a little rain and mist on the way. I will say that I haven't met an XLR I haven't liked yet and the owners seem to be okay too.

Doesn't look like I'll be able to make the cruise night tonight though.

Please post more pics as you can

Take care

Hi Jack,
I still only see 7 in order from leat to right: Red, NM Edition, black?, satin nickel, 2 red ones and a nother one I can't tell what color, it looks like another satin nickel one, that is right next to a Volkswagon, and that adds up to 7! I must be blind to not see the other red one, or just a magnifying glass. :glol :glol :glol :glol

I have just posted 3 more Bob's Big Boy picture's. In order to do so I had to delete 3 picture's. After reading how to post picture's. I found that each member is given a set amount of hardrive space for picture's. It appears to take a few days for the picture's to be approved and then put up on the Gallery. If one looks CAREFULLY you will see all 8 XLR's. I should have used a 14 MM instead of the 24MM lens. Live and learn Robin

I was hoping for some national publication to be at BG for some photo shoots. I'm sure the "Road & Track" photographers would have some suggestions on arrangement and alignment for photos. They've got an eye for it and probably would be a little pushy about it.

Jamsto has mentioned that the pictures from the first BBB meet were posted somewhere, so I went searching and finally found this thread ... and found the pictures ... it was fun to read this from the beginning ....:thumbs

Since we are just 10 days away from BBB for 2007, let me post the address that I found earlier in this thread ...

Bob;s Big Boy ,,, 4211 Riverside Drive, Burbank

I think that meeting at the Sportsman Lodge early afternoon on Friday would be the best idea. I understand that they might have a nice lounge at the hotel. It might be a good place to go back to after Bob's Big Boy. I think that it is about 10 minutes or so from the hotel to Bob's. I don't know if we can convoy in the LA traffic, but I think that we can stay pretty close and whoever gets there first try to grab some parking spots.

I don't know what everyone else's plans are, but we are going to stay in LA on Saturday and we thought that we might spend Sat. sightseeing on Rodeo Drive, the Peterson Auto Museum and maybe grab a drink at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. :party

We have no plans at all for after Bob's .... we are bringing a map of California and a bag of clothes and plan on being gypsies for a few days .... this retirement gig is new to us, and we are liking it pretty much! I cannot remember whenever it was that we weren't planning our lives around a work schedule ....

What's those old lyrics??

We might look ragged and funny ...
