Well, i will never never buy another GM again. WE have an 05 XLR LEMON. The BBB have deamed it a Lemon, but Cadillac is fighting us to the hilt!!!!! They have given us nothing but nightmares and it continues.

I am warning all out there. Think twice before buying an XLR. Another thing i have found out about this car is the depreciation is real real real bad! We have an 05 with 2500 miles! Mint condition other then it is broke. Crimson Red. According to Cadillac themselves, its only worth 50,000.00. We paid over 85,000 with taxes license and fees. its only 6 months old!!! Watch Out :reddevil

Two weeks after the purchase the problems started. They have not stopped. Electical, leaking oil, noises and all kinds of messages. It has spent more then 40 days in the shop. it has been in the shop for repair more then 9 times. Out of the 2500 miles, only 600 were put on by us, the rest came from driving to and from the dealer which is 170 miles away.

Cadillac is being more then difficult and doesn't care about the car. They only have given in to talking since we filed with the BBB. However its not going well. Looks like we will have to hire a lawyer and fight.

We only wanted a replacement car and they fought that till the end and refused. Now they want to buy it back. great right,, not they want to hand us a loss on the buyback!!!!!

I just want everyone to watchout. GM and Cadillac doesn't care anymore. By the way i used to be a dedicated GM buyer, chevies, cadies, gm, pontiacs,, etc....... never again!!!! :reddevil

The 50K is low and belowwholesale. The auction this week they are between 55-62K. Retail is going to be around 58-62K. Heck a month ago anyone could of bought a brand new 2005 for 68K all day long with the employee discount program.

How far up the GM Corporate ladder did you go???

Have you tried another dealer to fix what is wrong --one that has experience with the car.

I only suggest the latter because like my other hobby -- Harley's it is clear that there are qualified dealers and "others". Now is not the time for GM to aleniate customers!!! So that is in your favor too.

I truly wish you were closer so that you could use my dealer. They may be able to fix it. Is there anybody on the forum that is close to you that has a good dealer you would recommend???

I am not a big fan of the "MBA" types that are now permeating the work force. They seem to have been asleep when it comes to good customer service.

Hey maybe a "field trip" over to Alan aka "Mr. XLR would be in order. His dealership should be able to coorrect everything. What do you think Alan?? (Seriously) I know it's Chicago but that's a short trip

Regards.

The sky is not actually falling.

One wonders why people want to ventilate their non-specific frustrations here. Do people who post here think their identity can be held forever anonymous? In reality, everyone's identity can be easily discovered.

Libelous and defamatory speech, when reduced to one's own written word can be difficult to defend - especially if you are considering litigation against GM. Don't vent your spleen here. It can substantially weaken your case. Besides that, we don't want to hear it.

Give us a problem, the members on this forum always rise to the occasion to help you solve it.

********************************

I wholeheartedly agree with your comment above XLR 1 FL.

We have even turned MBA into a verb-form.

Example: "You can tell that's been MBAed", or "He certainly MBAed that deal", said while referring to a derivative product that has been cheapened beyond all recognition from a high quality original.

As a possible buyer of a XLR, I for one, do want to hear problems customers are having with GM and their XLR's!

How about one who has had no problems with two XLR's after many road miles, top up and down on hills and on roads slanted left and right. goes to show what happens when you drink excellent scotch. :jester :flag :nopity

We do want to hear the smallest to the biggest complaints about our XLR's.
You need to be more selective when you say, "WE" don't want to hear it. If you mean "I" don't want to hear it, then that's a different story.

I can't help thinking that many of the issues discussed in these posts are merely a result of the dealer not properly preparing the XLRs for delivery.

When our XLRs arrived at our dealer, we were told that they would not be delivered to us for 3 days as they were waiting for a factory/corporate guy had to come in from wherever and adjust everything, sensors, body part alignment (e.g. our hood was slightly higher than the fender), software, top and so forth.

Now we may have been the exception, since our cars were Neiman Marcus and the first delivered to dealers but I can't help thinking that dealers now simply unpack the car and send it out, without doing any of the tests or adjustments that were done on ours. Maybe that's a lack of training, or a lack of caring, but I've been thinking about this for a while and finally had to post the thought. Maybe I should have started a new thread, but here it is.

On another topic, Avaitor, I'm taking my first flying lesson in a couple of weeks. Stay outa my way!

To keep this in the proper perspective. I have posted hundreds of posts on the Chrysler 300C web site, the 2005 Mustang GT web site, and several other cars web site. I can say that thank God I did not spend a lot of time there before I bought those cars or I never would have bought any of them. The nature of most current model year car web sites, especially new models is the complain about problems with the car. Why? Because that is about all there is to talk about. Until the car has been out a few years then the stories can start about the next redesign and after a few more years talk can commence about keeping the cars looking like new. So those that have no problems and love there car may never search for such a web site but those with problems get on the web looking for solutions. Those that have a flawless car may go to the site but most don’t post often. And then those that are just car lovers want to talk about any and everything relating to there car are the remaining group. Despite all the negative comments we hear about on this site, the vast majority are as problem free as most cars. Any car that has many bells and whistles and some unique ones at that is going to have a bit more issues. Although I have been pretty much problem free I would not want to own a car like this with out warranty on it. The only comment I have regarding our web site is I wish there was more posting going on but realize with a limited production car there are just a limited amount of people to post. Anyone considering this car I would say go forward and you’ll have much enjoyment ahead of you. I know I love it.

Well said and I agree with you. Also just for the record, I do not take everything I hear or read on the internet as Gospel. However I do believe it is prudent to gather much information from many sources before making a buying decision.

I think the whole is due to the golden ratio - 1 person will say something good for every 10 that say something bad.

Its not what my Mama taught me, just human nature, sad to say.

I have found that postings on the web about Dealerships with great service vs. poor service is very valuable to all. (Helping you enjoy your machine to the max!!)

It may even encourage some dealerships to sharpen their performance.

Budsvet, thanks for the two Z06`s I could have but I think I´ll keep my XLR for a little while. Now with the Corsa-exhaust on it gives me very much Vette-feeling.
I`ve had a Corsa-system also on my Vette`s.
But one thing is forsure, with the three C5s I´ve owned I never had any trouble!!

Have a nice week-end :party

On another topic, Avaitor, I'm taking my first flying lesson in a couple of weeks. Stay outa my way!

Let us know how that goes.
Remember - add power to increase altitude
Pitch down - adds speed
Pitch up - decrease speed.

Keep your nose up.

One miracle at a time!
